All this means is that we have great depth.Rak and Jax can be here for ever, unless one of them gets there trade value up to a 1st or 2nd round value
Wait, what? Has Jenkins even played?

I'm not just talking about me. I'm talking in general. I see other posters in this thread being attacked because they have the audacity to suggest that a player might not be as good as others think.

I'm done discussing this because it's getting away from the topic and it was my bad for even bringing it up.

I like this idea. Why is it that the second we might appear to have depth we quickly want to get rid of it? If Jackson impresses the rest of this season we become very flexible on the things we can do if we keep both of them.

I'd have to admit if Jackson keeps this up, I'd listen to the offers. Shanny is getting tired of people getting hurt year in and year out. BTW, how in the world do people get hurt for us but thrive on other teams? Hamstrings and stuff should make the training staff a little liable. I just don't understand how every year we are scrambling to find players by the 5th game. Its embarrassing.

Um, he played a lot in the Saints game, most of the Rams game, and started the Bengals game.

Shouldn't be an issue. Hell, Orakpo can't even get the Geico caveman on the field. Clearly, he sucks

The one thing that sticks out to me about Rak is that offenses have to game plan for him. It's a real reason why his production has been down. Finally, we get another pass rusher to compliment him and we can't even see them play a season together. I love RJax, but in my opinion he is no Orakpo.

Jenkings is just better. The amount of rush he's getting is right on point. LOL Carriker is what he is a very good back up ...But He'll never start over Jenkings again unless Jenkings gets injured.. FACT!!!!!

THIS. While I fully believe Rob is a capable OLB he isn't going to be someone defenses plan for. I expect him to have quite a bit of success early on if he really is at least average. Defenses won't know what to suspect. These next few weeks will be his best chance to shine. When defenses begin to adjust to him, and gameplan for him we can truly ascertain what kind of value we have with him. If we were running a traditional 4-3 I think we'd be able to really maximize our pass rush opportunities... Rak-Jenkins-Cofield-Kerrigan with Rob-London-Riley in the back.

Actually on the contrary....look I know the topic is about Orakpo. But I actually think with Jackson emerging, this could make London Fletcher expendable. He's much bigger than Fletch, he can play the pass better than Fletch, and he does know the defense. Jackson was drafted by us and it'll be great if he can replace Fletch. He's only in his 4th year so he could be a long term solution as an ILB.

Orakpo/Kerrigan are a dual threat. Honestly I wouldn't like to see one without the other.

Antonio Pierce and Ryan Clark are great examples of our defensive players who are 'expendable." IMO you keep your homegrown talent and take nothing for granted

    JARVINGS JENKINGS!!!

    Championship.

To stay on topic, what happens if Jackson gets injured and Rak is gone? We need Orakpo as our starter, and a capable backup behind him.

Why is it every time we have depth at a position, someone makes a thread like this?

Having quality depth is a GOOD thing, and something that should be encouraged, not traded away.

Asking the very question is exactly why fans should not be running a team until they actually have some sort of experience (even a simulation) in running a team. You cannot field a team with only quality starters and **** depth because when the starter goes down, that **** depth is going to cost you games. If we get rid of Orakpo and let Jackson become the starter, who is backing up Jackson? Exactly. An unknown who might be good, mediocre, or a complete liability.
