No other team fears Jackson...they did fear and plan for Orakpo though, which made Kerrigan that much better

SKINS-4-LYF...
Just as an aside... In the roughly 6 games Kerrigan has played without Rak he's notched just 2.5 sacks. One of those occured in the game that Rak got injured in. He hasn't had a single sack in his last three games.
Rak is an extremely vital part of this defense.
Rak is one of the core players of this D. His loss stings so much.

He's much more effective overall than Jackson, especially in run support (rushing as well) ...you can tell the difference - Jackson isn't getting pressure and that is without being doubled
That 3rd and long where Jackson had Bradshaw at the line and just flopped on the ground in a "tackle attempt" had me fuming.

The Hands Will Come
Sacks aren't everything. We've notched 2 of our 3 best defensive performances of the year without Orakpo, and the guy who's replacing Orakpo has notched 2 interceptions and 0.5 sacks, which isn't exactly a drop off considering Orakpo has 0 career interceptions. I'm fine with bringing Orakpo back next year assuming we can't get more than a 5th or 6th for him, but I don't think his career production matches up with the long-term contract he's going to want (IMO he will ask for something in the ballpark of Ware's contract from 09). We can't lock in that much money for a guy whose production is only a little bit better than his replacement's.
You're right, sacks aren't everything, but I would sure rather have 8-10 more sacks and 15-18 more QB hurries than the 2 picks that Jackson got. Without Rak, we aren't getting pressure on the QB, and he's having time to dissect the D. With Rak in, we're at least speeding up his internal clock.

You think we would only get a 5th or 6th round pick for Rak?
Sometimes you don't appreciate what you have until you don't have it anymore - we have missed Rak badly. His contract might be an issue because his agent might well ask for elite pass rusher money and he is not quite at that level IMO. I think a deal will get done though and without the franchise tag.
Said it earlier in the thread. Those asking the question would only appreciate what having Orakpo in the line-up brings when he wasn't there.
Over the past 5 weeks, I hope you've all come to appreciate just what he brings. Kerrigan alone getting the extra attention and rendering him virtually non-existent to what he was with Orakpo should tell you all you need to know. Aside from the fact Brian's the best pure edge rusher we have on staff.
Hail.
Ask Kerrigan if Rob Jackson is a suitable replacement... or just take a look at how he's handling the double-team - NOT WELL.
I'm hoping a praying that some how we can place a claim on Sergio Kindle and take a look at him. Because without Rak and our pass rush lacking, the secondary is 10x worst then what it is.
RG3 can put up 40 but if the Def can defend we will probably still lose to the teams will good/great defense.
My source (who is a close friend of Rak) says that Rak could be done. This is the second pectoral tear and this one was ripped completely from the shoulder. It's going to be months before he can start to fully rehab that thing and in the meantime a good portion of the left side of his body is going to atrophy. As it will be a contract year, it couldn't have happened a a worse time. I really feel sorry for the guy as he was a real pleasure to watch.
oops.
