Rob Jackson has been great no question...But this defense will be nasty with a healthy Orakpo and some competent secondary players

Can the mods edit the thread title to "Rob Jackson....Superstar" We all know he doesn't make Orakpo expendable, but he's been more than a pleasant surprise this season

You can never have enough good defensive linemen.

ROB JAX is the man !!!!! Hell, if ya step up on D, you will get recognized. Rob J has learned this and his play is speaking volumes. But by no way is Orakpo expendable; you collect weapons and find out ways to use them all in unison.

Back to Jackson, he's playing himself into more snaps, and that is a good "problem" for Has to have.
I'm not sure i agree with the concept of him being asked not to rush the passer. An OLB in a 3-4 defense is primarily responsible for rushing the passer, providing pressure and getting sacks. in the end, I don't care about Kerrigan's intangibles, how we'll be plays assignment football, or ocassionally tips passes; a first round draft pick that was drafted to rush the passer should be good at doing it. and I don't think he is, at least from OLB position. It literally amuses me how little this d line pressures the quarterback. QB's have had all day to throw against us.

I like what Jackson brings. He's not the pass rushing threat but seems to be a bit stronger in coverage. Nice to have a rotation when Orakpo returns!

Exactly. This team needs all the defensive help they can get going into next. Plus I would never trade or let go of a 1st rounder for a 7th rounder no matter how good the other guy might be.

Again, if they can get the big 3 on the field NICE. But Orakpo has ZERO interceptions! Jackson is a stud in that aspect.

No, this team needs depth all over the place.

Haven't read anything yet but my gut statement based on the title alone is absolutely not. The key to a successful team is backups who can fill in for starters. They both need to be on the team

It's a shame we're going to lose him at the end of the season. He's a free agent -- and there's little playing time on the table with Orakpo and Kerrigan penciled in as starters next year.

He's deserved a shot at a payday and a chance to start somewhere else. He's been on the minimum his whole career, and at 27, this is his one chance at a big time contract.

Really too bad. Can't get much better depth at a position
