i'm not sure what a domestic league is, but wiki says Liverpool FC has won 4 premier league championships, and a super cup (whatever that is) since 95...so...there's kind of a big difference between the two clubs. we have 1 NFC east title in the last 20 years so...

Domestic, as in the Country you play in. The Holy Grail so to speak. Ala the equivalent of the Super Bowl. There's been cup success since '91, both domestically and European at different times.

But the big one we so crave, the one we'd won 18 times prior to 1991, the League Championship, now Premier League; we haven't won since like the Redskins and the quest for a 4th Lombardi.

I appreciate it's more difficult to understand as all we (the Redskins) play for is ultimately the SB. (Although the divisional and conference titles are nice along the way.). Where as in soccer, you've different competitions, and not just the one through the season like in the NFL.

But ironically, for me at least being my two sporting loves, the main prize both teams so crave has alluded them for 21 years now. And counting.

You highlight a bigger problem for our fan base. Aside from Tampa Bay and possibly North Carolina, we don't compete for seats in opposing stadiums as well as others are doing to us.

We have the same stubhub. We have the same ebay.

When the Redskins start winning FedEx will start rocking. I guarantee it. And I suspect this will being to happen sooner rather than later around here.

I honestly don't know why there needs to be some great debate about this. I don't know why people need to call each other's fandom into question for pointing this out. Some things just aren't all that complicated.
See Henry, I agree with everything you said there. And I am not intending to call peoples fandom into question, I'm merely asking everyone to give it a shot and come out early. That's it.

All the negativity and debate wasn't intended by me... that just seems to come with the territory and that's what I wanted to avoid with this thread in particular.

While I agree with your intentions I'd venture a guess that abut 100% of the people posting and reading here are already doing what you seek. It's the vast amount of "casual" fans in attendance that frustrate you with their actions. You need to get a how to article in the Post! That might help some.

I certainly didn't take offense to the thread man. I thought your OP was both pertinent and objectively written without bias for the benefit of the fanbase and organization as a whole.

I don't know if I have or haven't; but if I have personally come across as anything you mentioned above, I apologise. That certainly wasn't the intention.

How about we start small and just stay until the final whistle. I was at the Bengals game and boy did the stadium clear out when we were down by 14 and 7 mins to go. Those kind of fans can just stay home. If not for the false start and Kyles shananigans we could have came back and tied the game up.

While I did not like the outcome. I really enjoyed the game and watching RGIII play his first home game.

I don't know what to make of it..I was there last week and at kickoff the stands were still half full...too many people coming in from their beer infested tail gate parties, encountering necessary security, and not planning their timing well. The stadium has always had that problem, where fans come in late. Yes, prices have a lot to do with that, but there's no pre-game pizzazz, or inspiring half-time activities. It's tough to ask the fans to get in early. Parking costs on the order of $30 or higher, and it's not easy getting into the lots if you arrive less than 2 hours before the game! RFK had an identity, and all I know is that FedEx used to be "The House that Jack Built", or just "The Jack". It's so corporate now...Maybe a few exciting wins will start to fill it up again with REAL FANS, but I think the Schnyde's gonna have to reach into his pocket to make the pre-game stuff moe enticing to get fans to come in early...

My mom has season tickets and I come up for 3 or 4 games a year. I'll be there this Sunday. I'm probably one of those fans that gets classified as a sitter. They have seats in there for a reason. I'm not saying you can't stand at certain times and I understand that fans want to stand up and be loud, but I cannot stand the entire game. I have lower back soreness if I stand too long, but I get up and down depending on the game situation.

I'm not a yeller or screamer on defense, I'm more of a guy who watches the games and I yell when a good play happens or if the ref screws up a call. I don't sit their banging on the seats or screaming at the top of my lungs. I think it's wasted energy, but that's just me. I watch the game intently and do my part when necessary.

Some fans are different then others so if you want to scream so much that your throat is sore or you have a headache, that's fine. I have no problem with that kind of passion, but don't chastise me for not being that way. It doesn't make me any less passionate or any less of a fan. I support the team in other ways. We get there on time and are in our seats no later than 12:30 for a 1 PM game. Occasionally in a tense situation (4th quarter of a close game and the defense needs help) I'll make noise at the appropriate time, but I refuse to yell at the top of my lungs for 3 hours.

At the Bengals game, I was getting annoyed with the RG3 chants and was yelling for our fans to be quiet and stop the chants. One guy looked at me and I told him, "do it between plays, not while he's trying to bark out the signals or do it during timeouts."

I, unfortunately, could not afford the season tickets this year but will still make it to a couple games later in the season. I always was seated at least 15 minutes prior to kick off so I could see the team presentation and get fired up. I always said I can not believe that the stadium was never full until haf way through the first quarter. I understand we have not been good thwe past few years but I put some of the blame on the fans for not being supportive 100% of the time by showing up early and filling the stadium early. The players see this and I am sure it affects their pregame emotions as well. Larry Michael said it on Redskins Nation this past Monday and had this very talk on the show. ARRIVE early and get in your seats prior to player introductions!

Nope, I wasn't talking about you. I love how you tried to work some Anfield stuff in here though... I would love that type of atmosphere this Sunday ; )
