    Here's my test:

What QB would you want RIGHT NOW instead of RG3?

For me, the answer is a big fat honking 0.

I think RG3 gives us AT LEAST as good a shot in a game as Brady, Brees, or Rodgers would because he is a more dynamic playmaker. The other 3 have the ins and outs of the QB position down due to their experience, but if we're down 2 with less than 2 minutes to go, I trust RG3 just as much as any of them.

If my life depended on him winning the game, I'd take RG3 over Flacco, Cutler, and Schaub. Maybe even Vick and Rivers.

Its hard to argue with Roethlisberger's rings.

I wouldn't trade him for any player

#17 What the....... He must not be watching the games. Either that, or his old age is getting to him. RG3 is playing as a top 10 QB thus far, no question about it.....

He had RGIII at #17, and felt like that was generous, "nearly putting him in the top half of the league."

I couldn't help but give that an out-loud "WTF?" I understand that RGIII isn't a top-5 quarterback in this league...yet. But IMHO, he's certainly playing like it right now.

He's #4 in QBR, 16th in rushing, led the game-winning drive last week without the speaker in his helmet, has thrown ONE interception, and has completely changed the culture of this team.

My question to you is simple. Where do you put our rookie signal-caller among NFL quarterbacks, based on his play at this moment? I say #5, at worst.

    HAIL.
I'd say all of those things are AWESOME for the team and the city, coming from what we had. But in terms of QB play, I think he's still coming into it. IIRC Matt Ryan has 11 passes for TDs through week 4

RGIII as a passer is in the top 16, but only just. He makes big plays with his arm already, but he's not YET the elite thrower that Brady, Rodgers, Brees and Ryan are. And I do think the coaching staff is sorta babying him a bit - look at what they asked Rex to do last year (even with Rex's physical limitations, they asked him to go over the middle more, and they spread it out a bit more too) and compare with what they're asking RGIII to do - the offense is simplified and pared down, just like it would be for any rookie, no matter how mentally and physically gifted. However, he's playing historically good among rookies in that regard, and he is the best offensive WEAPON - running and passing in the NFL. Watch what happens around week 8 or so - teams will catch up to our current offensive gameplan, but by then RGIII will have grown enough as a pure drop back passer to beat teams that way.

I think RGIII ends up with 18-21 TDs, 7-11 INTs, 3800-4000 yards (eventually he's gonna have a 2-3 Int game - every QB has at least one stinker a year, even guys like Brady), and 8-10 rush TDs with 800 yards. He'll be OROY, make the Pro Bowl, and hell, if we have a good enough record (9-7/10-6 and playoffs), he'll be in MVP talks.

Of course I just want TDs and I don't care where they come from, but I would like to see a 2-1 ratio with his TDs. I want him to be known as a passing QB and not a running QB. But that's just my personal preference and I'm always happy when we score a TD, even when Garcon recovered the fumble. I'll take it.

Just looking at Jaws list of his top 12 right now, shows me:

    1) He's using bias from seasons past for forming his standings and not the 4 games this year

    2) He's name dropping

How in the hell has Rodgers been the best QB so far? Matt Ryan would be #1 on my list right now. Bradford (sans last night) was playing way better than his current ranking. Up until this past weekend, Brady and Peyton have played average. Romo has sucked as has Vick. Eli would be behind Ryan right not. Brees has played well enough to be about right where he should be. Ben? What the hell has he done?

The list is bad because of the 2 reasons I stated above.

I agree that Griffin is not yet a top passer.

But, being a QB is about more then just passing.
Our best WR has played 1 quarter of healthy football, our RT is 3rd worst in the NFL according to PFF.
But with Griffin this offense is 3rd in yards and 4th in scoring.
Almo's rushing success is largely because of Griffin effect on the defense.
    And he's already a leader.

I would be hard pressed to think of a QB that is having greater overall impact for their team.

In there here and now I'm still taking Brady, Rodgers, Brees and possibly Eli Manning. With the future in mind only Rodgers. Griffin has played 4 games and has been better than anyone could imagine but what Jaws is trying to say lets let him play himself into elite status. There's no reason he can't do it, but you're not elite after 4 games.

The thing is, if the rankings were being honest (which they're not because...you know...ESPN and clicks and what not), then you wouldn't include pass performance in the numbers. Who cares what Romo and Vick did in preseason, or last season?

In an honest evaluation, you couldn't put Robert that low. Saying he grades it based on passed performance essentially allows him to hedge his bet and also drum up a little controversy.

Does Jaws end every sentence with downward inflection as if he's telling you something prophetic with every thought on radio too?

My thoughts on RG3 are this:

He's young, he's very, very good as a rookie and looks headed for greatness, and he's ours. I already have his jersey, and I don't care one bit what anyone else says about him. The End.

The only QB I would take over RG3 right now is Rodgers. Ryan is okay, but he aint that mobile and I think he is just the by-product of those three monsters he is working with. But these three quarterbacks are clearly playing the best football right now, with all due respect to Peyton, Eli, Rivers, and Brady.

Gone, but not forgotten... RIP RP
