He planted on that leg and got hit. Do you think that he would have torn his ACL on that play had he not been touched? Either way, he got hurt running the option.

The tear was not a result of the hit though. So yes I think he would have torn it had he not been hit as long as he planted on it the way he did.

The injury was a freak kind of thing. My fear is less about his ACL and more about concussions. There are various points during games where Griffin hits end up with his head smashing against the ground.
