You had the lead and a running game averaging over 6yds/carry. IMO Kyle should have run the crap out of the ball and kept the ball out of Ryans hands. I am not in any way saying that Kyle called a poor game, but I am wondering why we didn't control the clock when the running game was working so well. Let our defense rest a little.

I've got no beef with the Shanahans this game. Going 0-fer on 3rd downs kills any offense, and the more conservative gameplan was perfect for the opponent. This was the first opponent we did not want to get into a shootout with, and I think both the Off and Def followed the plan perfectly for 3 quarters.
Back to the play in question... throw the ball away, or get out of bounds. You're more valuable than those extra yards.
RIP Blake (royallypwned)
The playcalling really had nothing to do with the injury, but I thought it was atrocious, especially in the first half. There's no flow to Kyle's playcalling, there never has been. And, we are horrendous on third down conversions. Here's the deal: Kyle's hiring has smacked of nepotism from day one, and I haven't seen anything during his tenure here to convince me that he deserves this job on merit. His daddy wants to make sure his son is employed. It's especially frustrating because with an NFL caliber playcaller, we would have won this game.
That play was not a designed run.
RGIII is a rookie that wants to win, and like a typical rookie, he feels like he has to do everything, on every play....even the impossible. Instead of throwing it away or immediately going to the sideline, he did what young QBs often do, try to fight for the extra 1/2 yard that in the big picture is meaningless, and got himself hurt.
The hope here is that RGIII learns from this rather then continue to do that the way Vick continues to do it, which gets himself hurt over and over again.
If you look at today's gameplan there weren't many (if at all) designed run plays for RGIII, even on the 3rd & 1 in the redzone earlier in the game, when I was 100% certain they were going to playfake to Morris and RGIII was going to run the other way.....
RGIII's injury as zero to do with the play calling, IMO.

RG3 only had one designed run all game, so no. What was wrong with Kyle's gameplan was that there weren't enough passes to the middle/deep part of the field. Too much dink and dunk crap.
We didn't run Morris enough because we couldn't sustain drives. Unless you wanna go run run pass every drive(which doesn't work as we know). Morris had 18 handoffs in 45 plays. That's a pretty good run/pass ratio considering we were trailing for a lot of the 4th quarter. Also, the 2nd half run game was shut down in comparison to the 1st. You gotta maintain diversity in playcalling.
"In 2012 the Redskins are gonna be the NFC East champions, and that starts right f–king today.” Kyle Shanahan, 1/1/12
No, don't blame that on Shanny. It wasn't a designed run and III had two options. Run out of bounds or throw it away. Maybe he knew that we had a kicker that is in fact the worst in the league and felt he need to compensate for Cunmiss' suckage.
Meanwhile, the great Mike Shanahan is now 13-25 as the head coach of our beloved Washington Redskins. Not to mention he is doing a stellar job making sure we have a homefield advantage. Eight straight losses at home.![]()
Not this game, nor the last. Today, we went up against a dominant offense and we have a running back that is on fire. Of course you run the the hell out the ball to keep it out ATL's hands. But if you can't catch the ball on the 3rd down to continue the drive, wtf can you do?
We don't know what we think, we don't know what we know. All we have to go on, is what we say and what we show...
Thats my point Diesel, we had the run going at will and never 1 time did we take the shots in the end zone.[COLOR="Gold"]

Was it really that unusual to ask if someone else thinks we might be running our QB around a lil too much, Considering he's already a freaking target![]()
Wait till the NFC East comes around!

The end of this play was a bad decision on the part of RG3, but ultimately I do blame the Shanahans. He's been getting hammered way too frequently, and every goof off the street saw it coming. Every game we've been expecting them to learn from the last, and they haven't. Didn't I hear RG said on one play against the Bengals he got up and everything on the left was on the right, and vice versa? And now he has a concussion. RG3 should not have felt it was okay--as drilled and instructed by the Shanahans--to not run out of bounds on that play today.
It's just too obvious that this was something to avoid with our extraordinary franchise QB with extraordinary mobility--it's been the obvious to almost everyone since the day we drafted him. How was this allowed to happen? Yes, ultimately it goes back to the Shanahans. I really like them and think they're very smart, but sheesh this makes me REALLY begin to have my doubts.
No. No I don't.
Its a shame that the board being all ****ed up makes it seem like NC21 started this abortion of a thread.
Dude.
No. Just, no.
Might as well blame his dad. He's the one who made him continue to play even while recuperating from his ACL tear. She's the one who inspired him so much. They taught him to fight with everything that he has.
Yep, it's his parents' fault.
He should have thrown it away. He didn't. That's his. Are you going to give credit for EVERY SINGLE passing yard, rushing yard, and touchdown to the Shanahans? No? Then you can't put the blame on them, either.
