Default The next Mustang, The Next Barracuda

That is a rendering of what the next Mustang could be like. It's in the November issue of Car and Driver magazine. If this is it, Ford will have effectively killed the Mustang.

Also, looks like Chrysler is bringing back the Barracuda name for this car- see rendering below:

ehh, they both look too European. I know the Stang is due for a make over, I haven't seen these yet. I know they are going for a world wide platform.

Too bad there isn't a penalty for excessive underachievement. The Cowboys would be flagged. (Clayton)

I have to admit the new/retro american muscle car style is pretty bad ass. The Mustang and especially the Challenger look really cool as is, would be sad to see them go, again.

The new Mustang will be the first one ever with independent rear suspension. Better for corners but not on the line. I don't care for the looks it, maybe it will grow on me. The Cuda looks really good but not like a Cuda.

Yeah, not sure what to make of that Mustang. It has sort of an Aston Martin-ish kind of look to it.

I don't think it's ugly but it's not what a Mustang should look like, though maybe given time it will grow on me more.

Once you're completely comfortable with a sports car's body style, it's already out of date. Or that's what Ford designers have told me anyway. I tend to agree.

That Mustang rendering does look pretty Euro though. I see some Japanese influences too.

If it handles well and jumps off the line like an angry lion, people will come to love it. It does look pretty badass, but it looks, well... round, for a Mustang. Ford guys tend to love the fact that Ford hasn't given in on that squared look, and this would be a full capitulation. (Even if it looks terrific absent its own traditional design constraints.)

Not sure what to think about that 'cuda, as the finished product rarely keeps the more radical elements of the concept art. Which may be the case with the Mustang too, as in its case round is radical.

I am a bit tired of the current Mustang look though. I have no complaints about it. It just doesn't invite me to stare anymore.

I really see Pontiac in the V shaped split grill on the Cuda but Stang looks a lot more like an Astin Martin - even more so in the picture above. The doors are cool but no way gull wing doors make it to production.

It seems they were showing the best possible angle in that first picture.

    Oh, those crazy concept cars.

Me, the first view of the Mustang looks really mean. I mean, I could see Disney designing a car like that to be the bad guy in Cars 3.

Now, the views that Kosher posted?

That side view looks wimpy, to me. Or maybe reminiscent of the 280Z

That pic with the doors open, though? To me, that looks like a spaceship. I could see Tom Cruise driving one of those in a Mission Impossible movie.

^false, those concept pics were the concept for the current Mustang.
