Viking Fans Think Were Dirty???

Landry gave our defense a bad reputation for his constant late hits and personal fouls and helmet first hits over the middle trying to kill people, but he is gone so we don't really play dirty on D anymore, however Shanahan does have a reputation as being dirty because of his zone blocking scheme and how it clears the backside of run plays, but a lot of teams are running that style now so it isnt just a Shanahan thing. A lot of fans of other teams and defensive lineman themselves hate him because of the dive at the knees type blocking his scheme calls for and the potential injuries and toll it takes on opposing teams. I can see how we would be viewed as dirty on offense but our dirty defense is a thing of the past.

Neither injury was dirty. There was no way Gomes was going to try and tackle AP head up in the hole. He went low so as to not get trucked not to hurt AP. I didn't even remember Ponder getting hurt. Funniest was the guy saying the skins are the skins. They had a little run w/ Brett Farve. First time they'd been relavent since Moss/Culpepper/Carter days. Hopefully Kyle puts it all together this week and Morris gets at least 20 carries and Grant picks up at least 5.

No it's cool. A lot of people are confused about it. In 1969 you had the National Football League and the American Football League. The Vikings were the champions of the National Football league by beating the Browns. They then lost the "world championship" to the Chiefs. The Vikings even got a trophy for it. This certainly doesn't erase losing to the Chiefs, Dolphins, Steelers , or Raiders. But it is considered a championship. There were no conferences back then.

I've lived in Maryland for 35 years. I respect the Redskins and their accomplishments. And I also think the Vikings lose Sunday. We are due an ass kicking from the Skins.

Yeah, I know about the history of the AFL-NFL from 66-69 before the merger and you are right that the teams got a trophy for winning their "league" championship, but it's just not usually recognized as a "true" championship today. Back then the teams and, fans would celebrate it. But now, it's just looked at as technically a "conference" championship even though they didn't have the conferences then.

Now that you mentioned it JEC334, I agree with you. I don't like RG3 either and if he does play I hope one of our young secondary players gives him another concussion and dishes out a little pay backs for busting up Petersons knee last year. Our young secondary is starting to make a name, they can add to it against the Skins. I am worried that Skins will go after Petersons knees again, I hope the Vikes decide to split the duties with Gerhart, no need to take risk with Peterson again with Gerhart in the mix.

I've seen a lot of intelligent team message boards over the years. Fans that make coherent arguments for (or against) their team and put forth facts. This Vikings board on the other hand seems to be nothing but, "We'll keep getting better because I'm confident we will!" and "The Skins are dirty, but we have no proof of this, so we'll just keep saying it until people believe it" and "I don't like RG3, but I won't give a good reason as to why and just bash the guy and talk about how I hope we hurt him, sounding like a hypocrite after calling THEM dirty".

I didn't like the Vikings forum. A lot of them kept saying that I hope RG3 gets hurt and get killed on the field. They kept saying we are a dirty team for no apparent reason. I just hope that the Redskins blow them out this weekend. The Vikings are not as good as their record. Like I said in another thread, they will implode after the Redskins deal with them this Sunday!
