Wide expansions in our ability to communicate have certainly produced some evil consequences. People who were meant to live and die in natural isolation are now connecting with each other, sharing ideas, and forming communities. If you don't believe me, and if you're morbidly curious, just google search for white supremacist forums and see the horrible **** that gets posted in them by the absolute dregs of society. Some make these guys seem like MLK and Hitler seem thoughtful and moderate.
Here I'll make it easy. Just check out freerepubli...oops, sorry. I mean stormfront.org.

But yeah, you're absolutely right. There's a double edge to the Information Age. Besides what you've outlined,.there's also the ease of spreading not information, but bull****.

Apparently the book that contained these quotes was published in 2009.

Hubbards been in office since 2011...so...I'm sure someone must have taken notice. The biggest indictment on his district is if they reelect him. Then I can say w/o a doubt they are ****ty people.

It depends on how this gets portrayed. If it gets portrayed like he said, "We did the blacks a favor.", then noone but a racist would vote for him again.

But the words "blessing in disguise" leave him a little bit of wiggle room. Think about the normal use of the phrase. The phrase indicates the initial act should seem like a terrible thing to any observer, but that strangely some good unexpectedly (and unintentionally) came out of it. It does not necessarily mean the initial act is to be commended or lessen its initial monstrousness.

If his campaign staffers are smart, theyll steer clear of the suggestion that blacks should be thankful , but they will spin this as an anti-reparations viewpoint; yes, slavery was horrible but that reparations have already been effectively paid for because of the oppurtunities blacks have today to live in a prosperous society, and if we give reparations then society will no longer be prosperous. Actually, we owe it to black people not to give them reparations (see what I did there? I shoulda been a spinmeister). This will score political points because the majority of society, racist or nor, does not believe in reparations

As for executing children viewpoint, he's on his own there. There's no way to spin that crazy into something palatable.

Correct me if Im wrong, but didnt he make these comments after he was elected? In whcih case, judging his constituents makes 0 sense, unless youve bestowed up Arkansas voters the power of mind-reading...
The Loy Mauch comments that I posted were all made in letters to the editor of the largest newspaper in Arkansas during the years before he was elected to office.

The idea that all this stuff could be "spun" just a little bit to make it palatable to the typical Arkansas voter is exactly the problem we are talking about here.

"Umm... what I really meant was that I oppose reparations (even though no one ever actually suggests reparations). I share your values! *wink wink*"

My guess is that this guy is going to become a hero with the Tea Party crowd and will probably be governor within a decade.

Well, to be fair, America is a way more kick ass place thanks to African Americans and they didn't seem to be in much of a rush to get here on their own. Amiright? Amiright?

I grew up in a Republican household. Joined the military and towed all the party lines. But when the 08 elections came around I was quickly reminded that maybe we hadn't come as far as I'd of like to have thought. You see being a black man and constantly seeing how race was the only issue my party could come up w/ as an arguement against Obama.(that and the selection as Palin for VP)
