Default FedExField: Advice for the Vikings Game from the Director of Operations

    1) Since we have transitioned to 100% wanding we have been closely monitoring the traffic and lines at all gates. Through the first 4 games we have noticed a very consistent back-up pattern around the stadium, especially affecting Gates A and E. We would like to encourage everyone to take a look at the other gates around the stadium for a quicker way in. For instance, since Gate E gets fairly heavy during the half hour before kickoff, if you have seats on the North side of the stadium, consider using Gate D as an alternate. Gate D is usually much less backed up than E and could provide a quicker entry into the stadium.

    2) Horns. Some of you may have noticed a horn sound coming from the stadium prior to kickoff. We will continue to sound the horns exactly 60 minutes before kickoff every week. Please let this sound remind you and your guests that game time is fast approaching and the quicker you can get to the stadium, the quicker we will get you in through the gates. Come Early!

    Thank-you

Is 100% wanding referring to a hand held metal detector?
“I just wanted to say to the fans … in D.C. and across the nation, they’ve been great for us, cheering us on. At away games they show up in the masses and at home they really made it feel like a home-field advantage. We said this when I was in college, ‘We got a chance to sit at the dinner table and experience success and it was a good meal. But now we want to go back to get dessert.’ We’ll be ready to get dessert next year.”

Robert Griffin’s last words at the press conference.

Absolutely. Lines were ridiculous for the Falcons game.

And some of those wanding were better than others. I've already emailed them about #4009... dude was totally unproffessional. But for the most part, they do what they can... see my thread about getting in early for more tidbits and gripes.

Thanks for posting MTH... I had heard the horn before but had no clue what it was for.

All due respect, what FedEx's Director of Operations needs to do is train the people doing the wanding. We were in line for the Falcons game and the lady, bless her heart, was slow. To the point 5 people in another line would go through for 1 in our line. Event Staff kept telling her to speed up, but she kept on her methodical way. Some wanders are thorough, others have the wands turned off. I have seen cans of beer (multiple cans, like a 6 pack) make it through the wanding. There needs to be a seemless way to empty contents of pockets and be wanded that doesn't take 45 seconds per person. I have done screening using a wand, and it can easily be done in less than 10 seconds/person. By now, people going to the game know to empty pockets and expose belt buckles. With the sensitivity on the wand set to medium, you can scan the front and back, and the wand will pick up the sides. Swipe down the front, up the back. If it alerts, you stop and expose the metal. This really is basic stuff, but the people doing the screening have very little training, and it shows.

If people wouldnt wait until 15 minutes before kickoff to head into the stadium, there wouldnt be any lines! I get there when the lots open usually, and always head in 1 hour before kickoff TO AVOID THE DAMN LINES!!!

When I was at the Bengals game with Techboy, this middle aged woman (40's) sat next to me, wearing jeans and those thigh-high boots. She unzipped one of them and pulled out a bunch of miniatures. I'm starting to see the appeal of cougars, they're resourceful

I think that goes to what this thread is about... part 1...

We go in gate D and never have a problem. Of course we go in about 12:30-12:40ish most games.

edit: weird, somehow double posted. whoops

thing is, as long as people are in the stadium it eventually wouldn't. FedEx has an ASSLOAD of people inside the stadium walking around and signing up for ****ing credit cards while the game is going on. It pisses me the hell off.

I used to use Gate C back in '99 before Snyder had a chance to close Gates B & C. It was one of my little secrets. Never any line, just walk in. Now Gate D is my last stronghold, although, like you said, it depends on the person you get. If you wander is slow, it could take 3x as long as the line right next to you.

But when Gate D as a whole gets jammed up, I don't know what I'm going to do.

We enter at gate "E" around 1/2 hr before kick-off and have never had a problem. That's what we did for the Falcons game and got into our seats with plenty of time spare. Honestly, we don't care about any of the pre-game hoopla. My goal is to get into my seats right after they sing the National Anthem.
