The worst throw that RGIII had was when he threw behind Banks on a swing pass. If he had hit Banks in stride, Banks might still be running. For me Banks should absolutely stay, even if the skins were to replace him on punt or KO returns. He should be available for the backfield.
Measurables (5-yard acceleration) are fine, but I'm waiting for some results.

For his career he has 15 touches for 68 yards, 0 TDs, and 1 fumble on offense. That's 4.5 yards per touch. He has 196 touches for 3,473 yards, 1 TD, and 11 fumbles on returns. That's 17.8 yards per return. He's fumbled 12 times in 211 touches and scored a grand total of 6 points for our team.

I can't believe that someone else couldn't replicate or exceed that productivity for us while also providing more ball security.

Defenses have to gameplan for Banks because of his speed even though he hasn't broken any big plays yet through 6 games.

And he has contributed some on offense. 2 of his 5 runs have resulted in 1st downs, and he is averaging almost 5 1/2 yards per carry. He also has 4 catches, though just 1 of those has resulted in a 1st down and his longest catch is just 6 yards.

His punt return average is weak, at just over 5 yards per return, but he's doing ok on kick returns...12 for 315, with a long of 55.

And he was involved in the lateral/pass back to Griffin, who then got the ball downfield to F. Davis for a nice gain.

The numbers could be better, certainly. But you can't underestimate speed, and Banks has it in droves. My guess is that he will bust a long gainer soon. I understand the position of those who say he should go, but my vote is to keep him...for the rest of this year, anyway.

Defenses must account for him. I guarantee that when Banks is in the offense, there is one less guy to try to tackle Morris.

    Maybe.
What does the game film thus far show defenses?

that Banks will fumble, certainly. That he does not keep his eyes on the pitch, and that whenever he's in the game there is a chance he will lay it on the ground.

that he has no feel for the play.. if he doesn't get the corner, forget it. He won't find a seam, can't exploit a crack.

If he does try to cut it back or turn it up before he gets daylight, the vibration of an oncoming linebacker will knock him over.

    He can't block anyone.

Seriously,, who is looking at any film of the Redskins and putting up red flags on Brandon Banks and his devastating potential?

I very much doubt anyone is.

Well, a few good weeks certainly won't ease my foot off Danny's neck, but If they keep it up, who am I to complain?

So if Robinson is playing that position they wouldn't respect the pitch? We would gain 20 yards per play if that were true. Any WR/RB with good speed (have you seen Aldrick run after the catch?) would demand that the D account for him.

31st in punt returns and 18th in kickoff returns. Not good, not all on him, but not good.

Last year he got flagged for a hit that was identical to the one that took the returner's helmet off. I was PLENTY P.O'd about it, but not because of my usual ire with danny Smith, but because it was a beautiful play, and it dre a flag.
Glad to see th official back there on Sunday let him play football like it's supposed to be played.

Niles Paul is turning into a special teams ace.. and with the mission that Lorenzo Alexander's been on this year.. our punt cover team is shag-NASTY. the stats do not show the impacts they are laying out on returners. They're making CRUSHING hits.
They are going to cause a game changing turnover this year, i believe.
    Smith has them playing!

Agree.....I was so amazed the PR for the Vikings did not fumble when his helmet came off..I don't know how he held on to that ball.!

Here's a defense "planning" for Brandon Banks:

"Yeah, just kick it away from that little guy, number 16 over there. Yeah, yeah, he doesn't do ****, but if a kick somehow is ever not kicked out of the endzone, then he might end up going more north-northwest than he has been which could, you know, eff this conversation. What're we doing for lunch?"

    "He's too small"
"He's taking up a roster spot"
"Niles Paul can return punts/kick offs just as well"
    "He will fumble, certainly"
    "He's a gimmick player"
"He got stabbed at a night club - He's a real thug".....ok I was joking with this one

Just give it a freaking rest already..............................

Is Slaton still available? Wish he had grabbed him and he would be more effective out of the option than Banks is because he is a more natural runner and can find lanes and creases better. Plus he doesn't put it on the ground every time somebody looks at him.

You are correct if we had a speed back like Jeff Demps(elite speed so dont even need that level) and put them in the backfield on these option plays we could cut Banks in a heartbeat. I would still do it with Robinson honestly.

If he goes there won't be trouble (since he's been negated anyway).

Slaton is a free agent and probably for a reason.

Thanks to Soup for the sig!

Plus, I don't think the question is here is how to replace Banks. I believe we have plenty of talent on the roster who can do what he does. Banks is a replacement level player at this point. The stats I posted yesterday prove to me that any marginal player in the NFL could do what he's doing. So, I'd consider letting him walk without replacing him and use the roster spot for whoever happens to be the best player available at any position.

I'm just tired of seeing him WALK off the field taking his sweet precious time. I'm not seeing any urgency in his game, definitely not being decisive and lethal. He's trying to do too much and in return is doing nothing. At this point I think he should just continue to fair catch, that's the best part of his game right now
