Because it's against rules to post full articles without links to the source.

RIP Blake Fomby... You will be missed... Love you brother. Hope they keep the roof open at Cowboys Stadium so you can still watch them from up there...

Seems like low-key spamming b/c you're doing nothing but fishing for blog hits. I got nothing against you, but I never read your blog posts. I'd probably read what you had to say if you just posted it in here.

It's not low-key spamming. I have a good reputation on this board, and moderators in the past have approved of my posting links. I wrote 1,000 words of fleshed out narrative on Mike Green. This is a thread that holds many people who might care about this type of thing. Am I fishing for blog hits by posting it here? I don't know that fishing is the right word, but yes, I like people to come to my blog and read it. But I'm not spamming. I'm inviting a discussion to continue. Whether you want the discussion to continue here, in this thread, or at my blog, I don't care. My goal is simply to spark discussion about the Capitals.

    Give the guy a break.

Would you complain if somebody posted a link to an article that wasn't written by a member of the board? Yeah, I didn't think so. Give the guy some props and be done with it.

Kevin, it would be nice if you could post a little bit of your blog post to let people get the gist of what the article is about. That would probably get more views to the site as well as generate discussion here.

Thanks guys. From now on when I post links here I'll do it in the following format:

    Mike Green is Back
    by Kevin Klein

In 2009, Mike Green was on top of the world. He anchored the blueline on the best team in hockey. He had notched 31 goals and 73 points, and he had done so in only 68 games played. He was nominated for the Norris Trophy, given to the best defenseman in the league and— by virtue of the NHL’s pedigree— the world.

That year the Capitals suffered their most disappointing playoff exit since a Stanley Cup sweep against Detroit in 1998. But for Mike Green, the biggest disappointments were yet to come.

Green remained relatively healthy the following season, playing 75 games en route to a second consecutive conference-topping regular season. He even topped his previous season’s point total, notching 76 points, this time built on a 57 assist foundation.

In 2010, things took a dip. Elbows and pucks found Green’s head with alarming frequency, and as a result he played in only 49 games on the season. Little did he know, things would only get worse the next year, when an uncooperative groin and sports hernia surgery kept him out for 50 games—more than half the season. The 83 games missed from 2010-2012 were one game greater than the entirety of an NHL full-season schedule.

Washington fans were down on Green. His previous Norris nomination seemed like it would be the height of his career. He was fragile as an ice sculpture. He had the flexibility of the wishbone, and his brain was more likely to swell than a threatened pufferfish.

Kevin, I like your stuff too.

I obviously hold no sway over what is allowed on the boards, but I like seeing content generated by our own members. If someone just joined the forum to post links to their blog and didn't contribute to the discussion in other ways, that would be different, but Kevin has been around for a while, people know him through these boards, and a lot of us like to read it.

I do agree with the idea of posting a snippet of the article though, it's a nice way to let people get the gist of it without clicking the link, and it seems to flow better with the discussion. Not to mention, you may even get more people to click through that way.

That's all I was getting at. Thank you for posting this.

And to piggyback off your article, Green has been AMAZING so far this year. Just have to keep him healthy. I know he's listed at 6'2" 210, but he looks much smaller than that.

The biggest thing for me has been his ice time, paired with his lack of turnovers. That's not what we were seeing when he was hampered by injury. I'm also hoping the with Ribeiro on the right boards on the PP, and Green manning the point, it's going to free up that patented Ovi slapper we all know and love.

Ovi's slapper on Sunday was fantastic. I'm really glad to see the team finally develop a little chemistry. It's not all the way there yet by any means obviously, but it seems like things are finally starting to gel. I really like the way the forecheck has become such an important part of the game plan.

Anderson has been killing it so far this year. I'm hoping that we see him come back to earth tonight.

Caps getting lots of help on this stretch. Vanek against Buffalo, Spezza tonight, and Lupul has a long term injury in Toronto, who we play Thursday.
