Well, we are not the worst team in the NHL. Good fight men.

Good end to an otherwise not so good sports weekend.
Bring on pittsburgh!
Congrats Caps fans.
Tempers boiled over in the locker room post game with some of Kaleta's comments (or, lack thereof) about being scratched. A beat reporter misconstrued what Kaleta said to Miller, and Miller told reporters that if it were true, Kaleta needed to grow up. Turmoil.
Either we're going to see some trades or this team may be going further into the tank.
I guess, as a fan, it's better to be BAD than mediocre (as a coach/player/member of an organization, being bad should never be your goal. Ever. Just win.) Mediocrity begets mediocrity... But holy cow. This team is not good, and the locker room issues are starting to come to the forefront. We may very well wind up with MacKinnon, Drouin or Jones.
Good luck in upcoming weeks. I think we have one more against you, so I'll see you then. (Unless anyone replies to this and wants to banter, then I'll be glad to. If not, I'll try to get the NHL thread to have some semblence of life and leave this thread to you)

Sorry, I have to share this quote... It's hilarious. The beat reporter (Harrington) and Miller on a topic that doesn't involve Kaleta:
Harrington: "Ryan, when are we going to see a 60 minute effort from this team?"
Miller: "Are we running a pool on it or something? Put me down for April 15th or something, I don't know."

I was just happy to see Chimera score a goal finally.
Some good blueline news for a change: Orlov is back with the team.
The Washington Capitals have recalled defenseman Dmitry Orlov from the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League (AHL), vice president and general manager George McPhee announced today.
Orlov, 21, has recorded 12 points (one goal, 11 assists) and 16 penalty minutes in 22 games with Hershey and has tallied three assists in his last two AHL contests. He collected 19 points (three goals, 16 assists) and 18 penalty minutes in 60 games with the Capitals during his rookie season in 2011-12. Orlov finished the season ranked fourth in scoring among rookie defensemen despite finishing ranked 23rd in average ice time per game (16:52).

It will be interesting to see if the Caps are willing to trade a young defenseman for some offensive help. Next year, if healthy heading into the season, they Caps have Carlson, Alzner, Green, Orlov, Eskine, Kundratek, Oleksy, and Schultz. Only Eskine, who will be 33, will start the season over age 28.
Trade Schultz first if you can, then Green. Or can we trade Green and amnesty(?-salary dump-don't know what it's called) Schultz after the season or was that only for this season?

Redskins 2013 Opponents:
Home- Dallas, NY Giants, Philadelphia, Detroit, Chicago, San Francisco, Kansas City, San Diego
Away- Dallas, NY Giants, Philadelphia, Green Bay, Minnesota, Atlanta, Denver, Oakland
Finally Orlov is back.
I'd love to see what we can do with all our d healthy:
Carlson - Erskin
Oleksy - Alzner
Kundratek - Orlov
Keep Hillen up to bring in on a rest day and keep one of either Schultz, Poti, or Green and see what you can get for the others by the deadline.
Locker said Laich was going to be back on this roadie some time too.

At least we finally get Poti off the books and pray to god they don't re-sign Schultz. I like alot of our other young defensemen like Kundratek, Orlov and Olesky. Plus add in Alzner and Carlson with Green and you have a young efficient blue line for years to come.

I want to see this defense line-up:
Green-Alzner
Carlson-Erskine
Orlov-Oleksy
Schultz, Poti & Kundratek as your extras (Kundratek and Hillen can go to Hershey I believe)
Laich-Backstrom-Ovechkin
Fehr-Ribeiro-Brower
Chimera-Perrault-Ward
Volpatti-Beagle-Hendricks
Wolski, MoJo and Crabb as the healthy scratches.

As much as I hate to see it, I think that Ribeiro is gone before the deadline.
