Default ESPN Total QB rating - RGIII at 6.

Your all probably aware of ESPNs QB rating system which takes a lot more variables into account in rating QBs than the traditional system.

RGIII is ranked 6 in the NFL at the moment one place ahead of Luck. Peyton Manning is 1. Guys ahead of RGIII apart from Peyton are Brady, Eli, Big Ben and Ryan. He is playing at an elite level already and there is more to come as we open up the playbook and RGIII gains experience.

On one hand, it's only through 6 games of the season... on the other hand, he only has 6 games experience

Vinny Cerrato believes he gave Jim Zorn a roster that can make the playoffs. A playoff kicker doesn't miss that kick. A playoff safety doesn't bite multiple times by a double move in the same game.

QB rating takes facts. ESPN QBR takes into account somebodys opinion on if a play meant more at that certain time. Thats why it sucks.

I don't know the exact math behind the ESPN QBR, but they basically look at the probability of a team winning in every situation in the game, and score the QB on each play based on whether his actions increased or decreased that probability. In other words, if you're up late in the game, the QB gets rewarded the most for a long clock-churning drive that ends in a score. If you're down late, you get rewarded the most for taking big risks to get back into the game -- big completions help your QBR alot, and interceptions and incompletions don't hurt as much (heck, you're already going to lose, right?)

IMO without knowing any of the background math, it seems pretty legit conceptually, and the historical results correspond well with QB's who we think of as the being the elites.

Let's mention that he is 15th in the league for rushing yards too.

I'm not a fan of QB rating, so I don't get involved in total QB rating either.

The QB rating does not tell the whole story of the QB's play. You can't tell me A.Rodgers did not play a perfect game on Sunday night, but I guess his 13 incompletions, which include drops and throw aways just make it not perfect.

Thanks to Soup for the sig!

I can't wait until later in the season and next year. RGIII is going to continue to improve. Imagine when the skins get some serious play makers around him and upgrade the offensive line??!!! He's going to be our leader for many years to come and I couldn't be happier. Even after losses I can still find good things to say about this team and the way it performs. Props to the entire management staff (Bruce Allen etc) and the coaches (except danny smith lol)

Who cares whatsoever about ESPN's made up egotistic ratings? His NFL Passer Rating is 100.
