Smile I think it's about time to calm down....

After every game that we lose, I see the posts demanding the coaches be fired, that we dump our players, and everyone's huge disgust towards this team...

I think people are going a little overboard here (not that my opinion matters).

Mike Shanahan has been brought in to overhaul this team, and he has. I don't think ANY of you can say that this team doesn't look completely different than it did 3 years ago. We had a pretty great defense, but our offense was abysmal. Nobody enjoyed watching the game because we'd end up losing a game 14-7 or 9-7.... We scored 13 points today. There was a time when we WISHED we could score that every game.

We don't do that anymore. Sure, we've had two offensive flounders this year, but our offense has been pretty good overall. If we get back our starters, we'd look even better.

Our defense went the other way. I put most of that blame on Haslett. He turned a 4-3 Top 10 defense into a 3-4 bottom of the league defense.

This can be fixed. The end of the year could result in Haslett being fired (hopefully) and a new Defensive coordinator brought in. We may (or may not) switch back to a 4-3 and do great.

All in all, we're better off than we were in the Zorn era, or even during Gibbs II, or that last decade for that matter. All of you complaining that we're just as bad as last year, keep in mind our schedule is MUCH harder this year, and teams that were supposed to be bad, aren't.

I think a lot of you are upset because our offense is better than everyone thought it would be this year. That gave hopes and dreams a little credibility. Then it falls apart. We are who we thought we were. A rebuilding team, with a rookie QB. We're on the right track. The offense is almost put together, just a piece or two left in that puzzle. Next stop, fixing the defense!

Keep your chins up... This season may (or may not) be a loss, but we have a Franchise QB for the next decade or so... If we get some quality WR in, get some hungry defensive players that actually want to keep their job in there... we'd have a pretty darn good football team.

TL; DR: Our offense is pretty good this year, it's not going to take a lot to get things back on track in the future. Don't jump off the cliff, there may be sharks down there.

If you don't mind me asking, what positives did you take from the last 2 weeks?

Ok, it looks different, and in fact our record is about the same or even worse. Stellar overhaul there.

No one thought we were a historically bad defense that couldn't defend a pop Warner offense. I'm sick of " look at the bright side" seasons. It's about time for a winning season. I don't think it's too much to ask for. And if you aren't going to give me a winning season, dont give me a te the regresses each and every week. It's time for this team to progress from week to week. Not regress. I am sick of conceding the season every year by week 8 or 9

I didn't see Jason Cambell or Rex Grossman behind center? That alone is enough to stand up and praise the football gods.

I think people are seeing the 1/6 panthers and seeing us get beat and then crying for the end of the world. The Panthers are a REALLY good team, they just have had a bad stretch of games that could have gone either way.

Everyone expected them to be play off contenders this year (just like I expect us to be next year).

I am not sure what team you are talking about here. This team has the WORST defense this franchise has seen, we are calling trick plays just to drive the ball downfield for field goals and you think we are getting better?

Well lets see, we have made no progress at all.. Our defense has gotten a lot worse, our special teams are deplorable, our offense is full of college trick plays and lacks any flow or consistency. Our head coach cant draw up a game plan our off coord is 12 yrs old, and our def coord was coaching UFL before us..

We are not better off then before he came, He added a playmaking QB and has same result..... FAIL

Yeah I think it planted some immediate false hope for many that are tired of the failures and losing and being at this point and having to say...well maybe next year, it takes time/patience. It gets old. Most of the injuries are season ending. I don't like to make injury excuses when all teams have injuries but I'm not sure it's been pointed out enough. The starting Right tackle(hip) Strong and free safeties(Jackson and Merriweather), year suspension and knee, Carriker and Orakpo, #1 WR Garçon, #1 TE Davis, on and on...that's hard to come back from.

It is what it is... I've seen some other clubs with new coaches, or first time coaches turn it around faster. Did they inherit a better team? maybe, maybe not..all I know is 6-10 and 5-11 and most likely another sub .500 season is coming unless you win 5 of 8.

What overhaul is the op seeing? Today we got spanked at home by a 1-6 team in a game our coach called a "must win game". That makes 9 losses in the last 10 at home....did Spurrier or Zorn ever lose 8 in a row at home?
We are no better now than we were 5 years ago.....if anyone thinks we are then I'll have some of what you're smoking.
Think about it,,,we've lost to the Rams, Bengals and now the Panthers.....three loser teams in the NFL. Two of them at home no less......Shanahan should resign.....we are regressing.
I'm ready for Gibbs lll to coach RG lll.

Wow... maybe I went to the wrong forum. I'd probably get less venom from the Cowboy/Eagle/Giants forum...

this is YOUR team... If you can't see any positives from this year to last year, you're either blind, lack knowledge of football, or should do as some of you suggest and "give up on the skins".

I still haven't seen a 32-3 loss... I haven't seen us completely man handled. Our defense needs help, a lot of it, I agree... but if you can't see the shining stars on our offense, I pity you...

In all my time of being a Redskins fan (a little over a decade now) I've never been proud of a quarterback or running back like I am now... every day in Redzone's pregame show, i get to hear them gush all over RGIII and Morris... not bashing us because we're a horrible team.

I guess people don't remember 3 years ago when the only time the media mentioned us was to laugh....

It shouldn't take 5 years to see progress! forget success just a little progress would be a start

There's a couple people in this thread who need to edit their posts to comply with rule 11.
"Captain, it's a viewpoint--not one of ours! We're under attack!"

"I see it, ensign! Engage amygdala! Transfer all power from frontal lobes!

Suspend critical thinking field! Go to course heading of reflexive response 101 at full bias!
    Now!'Enter' at will!"

"It ain't what you don't know that gets you into trouble. It's what you know for sure that just ain't so."
