I also bet that those same analysts would look at our starting rosters as of today, and they might feel differently then they did before the start of the season. Our team has been absolutely gutted on both sides of the ball. If anyone thought we were gonna overcome injuries to both of our starting safeties, and overcome the loss of our #1 and #2 receivers are battling a serious case of dementia.
I'd guess it's a jab at the folks who were saying they'd take RG3 with the 1st pick, or it might be because everyone was saying Luck would struggle because the Colts would suck, and RG3 would have more success because the Redskins are a better team. We can clearly see that's not happening.

    I'm going with the latter.

Time to calm down? Nah. Not yet. Getting better? Seriously? 6-10, 5-11, I'm sure we'll get lucky and win one more this year and finish 4-12. That's not what I call progress. Sure we have a franchise quarterback finally assuming he doesent hold out for a trade after seeing his coach and many team mates throw in the towel on the season. He's one of the very few that plays with heart. So take him away and how much better are we really? And even with him we will struggle to a 4-12 season....

Our long time dominant defense is on league record setting pace for giving up the most yards EVER allowed by a team. Currently 3rd worse I believe. A hand picked DC is responsible for that. Hand picked by the coach. We get absolutely no pressure on opposing QB's. Our players are constantly in the wrong spots as our blitzes take to long to develop and are very obvious. We lack the fundamental playing skills at every position.

So if there's a silver lining hidden somewhere in this team, then call me ray Charles because I sure cant see it. I see clock mismanagement. I see lack of talent and depth. I see excuses every week. I see other teams with new coaches pick up and leave us in the dust. Teams that rebuild in year or two. I see regression not progression.

I seem to be the only one thinking this team isnt as bad as it appears. No one seems to get that we are missing our two best pass catchers on offense in Davis and Garcon. That suddenly doesn't matter now? The right tackle we were supposed to have starting is rehabbing an injury but I guess that makes no difference either and forget that Polumbus was supposed to be depth. Morgan was supposed to be a number 2 or 3 wasnt he? He is playing like one is he not? I think he is. We do not have receiver depth now that was drafted? Two second year guys and they are supposed to be pro bowlers suddenly in Hank and Robinson? Give me a break. On the O-line do we not have depth? Oh wait we do. We have Hurt and LeRibeus as guards do we not and a backup left tackle being groomed on the practice squad? One is a second year player drafted by us in the late round and the other two are rookies. Guess that doesn't count either. People forget how many players were cut and never found a job on another team from the Vinny era all of a sudden?

On Defense we wont give any slack for that either. We are only missing a young pro bowler who has lead the team in sacks the past 3 years. Doesn't count right? Or how about the most underrated player on the defensive line also going out for the year? Nah forget it. Fletcher has lost a step right? Just last year people were singing his praises and now you would think he is pure crap according to this fan base. Doesn't matter that we have Riley who we drafted and is now starting nor that we hopefully drafted a possible replacement for Fletcher just last year. Nah. Wont hear of that working. Oh wait I forgot something again. How about the two safeties that were going to be our starters that are both out? That has led us to having two backups in expecting them to be all pros. We will just blame that on the d coordinator being piss poor. Oh one more thing. I guess that 18 million dollar cap hit was just a common thing that happens too huh?

My whole point to this rant is this team is full and I mean full of young inexperienced players on the roster. We have depth in a lot of key areas that we did not have before. We have YOUNG up and coming talent but again I say they are YOUNG! We need to give this the full 5 years and let it play out. The system is in place and the players are learning. Rome wasnt built overnight and the suggestion to tear it all down again has me shaking my head. We replace Shanny and what have another coach come in here and rebuild it his way? Are people insane? We are doing the rebuild right. We are going to trip and stumble along the way and yes it is going to suck but this is a process period!

Who is throwing in the towel? I have actually been very happy that even though our players havent been winning at least they have been showing heart!

Well lets start with the person who matters most. The head coach. The Oline. Unless you call 6 men being man handled by 4 playing with heart. And that's just the offensive side of the ball. I'm not even touching our disgusting defense again.

I think there is one obvious question that no one is asking...

    What would Vinny do?

I'm too tired to get into specifics, but I'll say this. I really have agreed with this up until today. That loss really sucked. I like Shanahan and think he's pretty good, but Miami and Indianapolis played today with the winner going to 5-3. I didn't watch any other NFL after our game so I don't know who won, and don't care. But in reality, in this league today you gotta start seeing some improvements in win/loss over anything else. Our games are absolutely more watchable than ever before, but I'm starting to get the feeling that it just isn't gonna click with this staff. Really hope I'm wrong, and there's still time to improve, but for the first time under Shanahan my gut is pointing me the other way.
Eli Manning will be 31 years old when the 2012 season starts.
Michael Vick will be 32 years old when the 2012 season starts.
Tony Romo will be 32 years old when the 2012 season starts.
ROBERT GRIFFIN III will be 22 years old when the 2012 season starts.

Nah I can't agree with anything the OP.

We used to barely score 20 but we were never happy about 13 freaking points ever. Team has gotten worse in every phase of defense.

I don't see a clear plan presented in these last 3 years at all. If we end the season on a long losing streak shanahan has no reason to still be our coach and bruce allen should go with him.

Colts have a better record, seahawks have a better record, dolphins have a better record, and hell the browns even look better than us. And to make things worse shanahan has had more time with his team than any of those other coaches. time to fire him

We are no better now than we were 5 years ago.....if anyone thinks we are then I'll have some of what you're smoking.
Think about it,,,we've lost to the Rams, Bengals and now the Panthers.....three loser teams in the NFL. Two of them at home no less......Shanahan should resign.....we are regressing.
I'm ready for Gibbs lll to coach RG lll.
Things aren't looking good with Shanny as the coach. Truth is the team's record has gotten worse and worse each year from 6-10, 5-11 and the rate we're going 4-12. Heck Was could lose out and finish 3-13?

At this point I'm for Shanahan coming back next year because there's no one else who can come in and turn things around instantely. But my hopes aren't high.

I could calm down if this was a beating we took from a team like the broncos or packers. They had every reason to come in and play inspired football, but instead we got an abysmal performance. I have been the biggest supporter of Shanahan for a long time (I live in Colorado and have seen him coach for the last about 20 years). This team looks like his last season as a broncos head coach. The defense was pathetic just like this one with acception to having a legitimate starting DL.. I actually had to stop watching in the middle of the second quarter. If you think that makes me a fair weather fan then you are mistaken. I know the NFL wants these highscoring games but I will not watch another game where the defense looks like it is just standing still and probably shouldn't even be taking the field. The deceiving part of this team is there appears to be talent other than RGIII. They find ways to lose games the should win. We seem to beat the Super Bowl champions every year before they win the Super Bowl (aka sweeping the giants last year and beating the bears and packers the previous year whom were in the NFC championship) while make putrid teams look like don't even need to try. And sitting through Shanahans presser was making me realize he is probably more like Norvv Turner than a Joe Gibbs.

I am sorry I have lived to watch some of the glory years. I can handle A bad season. This team doesn't look like they know how to earn anything. It seems like every week the after game theme sounds like "we aren't going to make excuses cause we just don't want to win. " I too say this pretty calm.

On a lighter note I have to see ESPN highlight the game as "Newton beats RG lll". Disgusted at a bare minimum!

We just lost to the 1-6 Panthers. We've been heading in the wrong direction since game 1. Every game we won our defense let the opponent back in the game an put more pressure on our offense.

New Orleans damn near came back, the Bucs damn near came back, Minny damn near came back. This whole thing just lacks direction. What are you doing Mike? You didn't come back to reevaluate players every year did you?

Starting to think Mike was looking for one last pay day.
