Every year it's the same. First the fans have unrealistic expectations and then reality sets in. Finally, calls start coming for cleaning house of either the DC; HC, GM, President or whatever. As if retooling the roster wouldn't put you right back in square one for another 3-5 year building project.
Hopefully, Danny will stay all in with Shanahan. For better or worse, continuity has been lacking for more than a decade and is more important than anything else IMO. We knew after the first two years that we were stuck with woeful QB play. Now we've mortgaged the future for a franchise QB and know, or should know, that as well as he's played we are probably looking at 3 years before he completes his transition from college style play to full NFL abilities. The next two years will be tough. We are short 2 #1 draft picks (and they will be high ones) + free agency money for one more year that are needed to build a supporting cast around the QB.
It's going to be tough but when we went all in for Griffin (and I like the guy) I couldn't stop thinking that the competitive date was moving further and further out.
I'm almost ready to throw in the flag as well...but to see how RGIII responded in that post-game presser was telling. He seemed pissed. Hell, he seemed pissed during the game when his receivers still couldn't hang onto the ball.
This kid wants to win. He needs to win. Wouldn't be surprised if he got together with his receivers for a meeting and hashed out his expectations. As #98QBKiller mentioned, we're not THAT far back, mathematically. We still have division play ahead of us. If Robert can ignite this offense after the bye, we will have a fighting chance. I'm not counting on it, but after seeing his phenomenal play so far this year, I'm not discounting him one bit.

If we lose because of our talent issues (whether b/c of injuries, poor previous GMing or poor current GMing) that is one thing. We expected struggles this year.
But to lose because of mental mistakes? Unforgivable and unacceptable, with the experience of this coaching staff, and the leadership on this team.
How we win and lose the remainder of the season will dictate whether we should fire the coach at the conclusion of the year, not if we win or lose.
Ex post facto laws and collusion: banned in the US, but legal in the Democratic People’s Republic of Goodell.
"When you don't have the talent, you have to win with the pen and the pencil, and they are not doing it." -- SmootAnd since the bye, it seems like they are doing better with the pencil...
The Cruz bomb was likely the straw that broke the team's (especially the defense's) back after 7 games of awful play.
Do I want him, or Gruden or even Morris to take over the reins- Hell no.
Because we finally got a qb and in a system that emphasizes his positive attributes. Why in gods name would we want to subject
him to a whole new offensive scheme ?
I too am very frustrated, but in the large picture I knew our talent level was pretty average, and right now its getting exposed.
We have lost some pretty important pieces to the puzzle IE: Davis, Garcon, etc. And now those average backups have not stepped up.
To me the problem is, we as fans got all excited about RGIII and the offensive production, we allowed ourselves to think maybe we could sneek into the playoffs.
And now that dream is all but dashed. We want to blame someone, we want to have a reason why the excitement is being snatched from our grasp.
Well there are plenty of "reasons", plenty of "excuses", and plenty of people to blame. But lets try to look at the bigger picture.
We have a QB to build this team around. We have seen what Shanny can do with a 6th round RB. Let them get some more weapons for Robert and
watch how this team grows.
Reading RGIII, and some of the other players presser tells me that the majority of these platyers have not given up, and neither have I.
NO Pressure, No Diamonds, KNOW Pressure, Know Diamonds!
Griffin said that he was going to watch the game with his family and that he will never attend a Super Bowl if he needs a ticket to get in.
I am beginning to think that even Haslett and Morris need to take a seat somewhere else atleast.
Teams get the injury bug, whether it be steelers, packers etc.. But they produce, and part of it is great coaches.
I think it's too late for Shanahan. Lorenzo Alexander is openly dissapointed in his head coach, and a couple anonymous skins were bothered. No doubt that'll spread.
My word isnt going to be so easily disregarded. I've told myself and others numerous times that this FO has five years. Five full years. I don't care how bad it looks. I don't care about some arbitrary idea of "improvement" or "progress" some of you want to justify your rage towards Mike with.
We've been the worst ran organization for the last decade or so. We brought in expensive free agents who were either past their prime or simply gave up when they got their money from us. We gave Haynesworth a disgustingly huge contract and gave Hall one as well. We backloaded both contracts so they'd be an issue in the future. We drafted poorly and lacked depth at virtually every spot on the team except maybe TE. That is what Mike and Bruce came into. Then, he had to deal with the worst FA class in history because of the uncapped season. Then a lockout the next season. Then, when we were going to finally have a normal offseason we get penalized unjustly for trying to fix those ridiculous contracts we gave to Hall and Haynesworth.
Still, throughout all this we've drafted fairly well and have a lot of youth as depth on our team, which means we can survive more injuries than ever before. If a guy like Pierre Garcon got hurt just a couple years ago our offense would be able to do NOTHING. This time, we were able to continue to have a top ten offense. My, my how we forget.
FIVE FULL YEARS. I said this last week after the awful Pittsburgh game and some of you who are moaning and whining now we're actually with me on it. That's it? One bad game after one last week was enough to make you go against your word? Thats how easy it is for you to say something and have it essentially MEAN NOTHING?
We need a better defensive coordinator and major upgrades at both Safety spots. Those two moves alone will make us competitive. I'm pissed off about the last two weeks and it's so frustrating cuz we had a chance to do something but, damnit, there is no way i'm going to be so weak as to even consider throwing in the towel knowing full well just what situation this team was in before Mike came in and where it's at now.

I can and WILL play Redskins games too in the future...
But the time for exaggerating and freaking out is now, so I know I'm an idiot for even responding to all these posts this morning.
