Perhaps it stems from the fact that most of us have now realized that Shanny is done. He doesn't want to be here. It becomes more and more obvious with each word he utters. He's not going to show you anything. We should take the words from the entrance to hell from Dante's Inferno and paste them above Redskins Park: "Abandon all hope, ye who enter here."

I didn't watch the second half of the game yesterday. For the first time that I can remember in over 25 yrs, I said screw it. I'm doing something else. I didn't watch the 4pm games. I didn't watch Dallas lose to Atlanta. I watched the Walking Dead and Homeland. I was much happier because of it.

I don't expect much from the Skins these days. But, I do expect the basics to be covered (that's too much to ask, I know). Things like coaching, effort, pride, etc. Ya know, things that professionals do. Sadly, I see a bunch of amateurs out there--guys cashing pay checks and not playing together. Guys pointing fingers and not leading. I see a locker room in disarray and coaching staff that has abandoned ship with half a season to go.

Show me something, Mike, you say? What could he possibly show you that you haven't already seen? Lackluster effort? No game plan? No second half adjustments? Dumb penalties? Loss of composure by players and coaches? Blocked punts and extra points? What could he possibly show you, realistically, that would make you think he deserves to coach this team? I'm afraid the answer is nothing.

We have a long, long road back to mediocrity. Thank goodness we've been given a talent like RGIII. Now, let's get some coaches in here that know what to do with him and the defense.
    Preach on. Totally agree.

Not always, but at times. When you watch the games do you see a team of players that give their all on every down?

When one or a handful of players aren't giving 100% that's on them. When the problems are everywhere then the leaders are the problem. Listen to the players on teams with coaching staffs considered great... Listen to how thy talk. Then listen to the skins and how they refer to their coaches.

This staff IMO is close to losing the locker room.

The hardest part for me is the amount of excitement I had for the first few games of the year. Just watching RG3 brought joy I hadn't had for a long time watching skins...Sadly, after these two losses I am almost to the point where I may throw it all in. The huge let down is very hard to cope with. The team may be the worst I have EVER seen them play. Alfred Morris and RG3 are the only only two players that deserve to stay, the rest can go...

And Shanny just doesn't seem to care, it comes from the top and its well shown through our players....

Honestly the main difference between Gibbs II and Shanahan is that Gibbs hired a halfway competent DC and Shanny's offense has a far more stable foundation.

Hey Ed, I hate to tell ya that if he can't fix it in 2.5 years, he's not gonna fix it in 2 weeks. He's got the wrong personnel around him. A lame duck DC and a lame duck OC that thinks madden football is the way to organize plays. Now Hasslett may or may not go but Kyle is here for as long as Mike. No matter how bad he is Mike will never fire his own son.

That's why hate the idea of HC's hiring family members to their staffs.

Sometimes. Actually, we seem to be a very well coached team every year under Shanahan the first 5 or 6 games, then all hell breaks loose. It has happened every year so far. I think that is a product of talent more than anything else... this year, we were able to overcome injuries better than in recent past but we're still a ways from being able to overcome any and all injuries.

I hear ya. Thus my post. I was concerned about it when I first heard about it. For the reasons that are rearing its ugly head now. And I'm not saying that Kyle can't be a great OC but right now it's like he's relearning on the job. Sending Robert out on a route is proof of his lack of maturity and lack of commitment to protect his QB. Teams are teeing off on us as our play calling on both sides are so ignorantly predictable. Reminds me of when Snyder hired in a "consultant" to help Zorn and the offense. But with mike as goes Kyle. And I'm good with it as long as he puts the controller down and starts watching games in TV of other teams getting it done without being so cute. He's not fooling anyone.

Hiring your own son to do one of the most important jobs on the team just reeks of arrogance. It's as if he knew up front that there was 0 chance at all that anything would go wrong and they'd succeed from day 1. Otherwise fans are going to question the legitimacy of the position and his ability to fire his own son. At least he's not known for firing his offensive coordinators. Imagine if he made Kyle the DC and our defense was this pathetic, lol.

I don't agree that this staff is close to losing the locker room, but if they do, I wouldn't put it entirely on the coaching staff. I'm not saying they are not without their faults, I certainly don't think they're the best staff in the league, and i'm certainly not saying that I don't believe perhaps a change in some of the staff might not be a good thing, but if this team pulls a mutiny, its just as much on the players as it is on the staff. And here's why (and it has alot to do with what submittedone says below), but I believe it also has alot to do with the character of the players on this team. Alot of the players on this team are better in their mind then they are on the field. I would rather have 53 average - slightly above average talent, players, who believe that they are not perfect, that they are fallible, and realize that they have to focus every second of every game to give their best. We have some of these players, and we're even fortunate to have some players that believe this eventhough they are extremely talented athletes. We also have many (and maybe far to many) players on this team who believe they are better than what they really are, and that they don't have to give 100% every down because its far more easier to blame their shortcomings on poor officiating, or poor playcalling or any other 1001 excuses that they see fit. If any of these players are upset by what Shanny said in his PC maybe they should first ask themselves what sort of player they are, because it looks like Shanahan is about to tell them what kind of player they are whether they like it or not.

It makes me think of the colts. I hate the damn colts at the moment, but damn I envy them. I hate that despite the fact they're no better of a team then we are, they've got heart, they've got a sole purpose every game (which in their case isn't even football related other than the fact that it applies to their HC), and they win football games simply because they believe they can. I'm sure they get just as many ****ty ref calls, and i'm sure if you asked every colts fan you'd find out all about their inefficiencies in playcalling, coaching staff, etc., but they win football games. And frankly thats all I want to see the Burgundy and Gold do is win football games. I think i'm just about tired of the drama and distractions that come with this team every year. Its so much easier to just blame them than to overcome them.

I had such high hopes for this season to look better and the last 2 weeks completely deflated me and I have thrown in the towell on the Shanahan era. he doesn't have it anymore. bring in another coaching staff and lets see if a younger Coach can spark this team to play better. the playcalling yesterday was dismal. Brandon Banks has no reason to ever suit up yet they keep trying crap with him and it fails everytime. With the new kickoff rule he's utterly useless. the last play with 18 seconds wasted on him. should have tried hail mary. at least that had a slight chance. The Colts are 5-3 with a new coach and all new players on the team. When are we going to see improvement. 6-10, 5-11 and so far we're 3-6. I can't see 1 win let alone 4 in the next 7 games to say we improved. this team doesn't play with any heart. I am done subjecting myself to the failure known as the Reskins for 2012. looks like im waiting for 2013 and I hope Snyder blows up this staff and players. He's been a patient man and stayed in the background but I fear his patience is run out. HTTR

That's somewhere we actually disagree. I thought he had a bad day on Sunday, but I am a big Kyle fan. He's been a bright spot for me since Shanny arrived. I give him a ton of credit for RG3's success thus far. I line the way he calls a game (again, thought he had a bad day vs Panthers) and I think he maximizes the talent he is given.

Man Like I said before. I'm so low right now. I love this team. The skins are like family to me. I live and bleed Burgundy and Gold. Since I was 5 Years old I have loved this team. I have been in the NAVY for 16 years and haven't had much to cheer for during my Naval career. When I come home on leave I pay money to go see them play, taking a whole precious day away from my Wife and Daughter just to see my squad play. I have taken so much **** from people all over the country and during my travels for being a skins fan. I stick by them and stand up for them hoping one day things will get better but they don't.

I remember being over seas and calling home and my Dad putting the phone up to the TV so I can hear the last 3 min of a monday night game when we played the cowboys only to have Steaven Davis fumble the damn game away. Thats how Die Hard I am. Man I'm tired and don't know how much more of this losing **** I can take. I'm going to ride with this team but they have got to turn it around. We as Skins fans deserve better.
