The defense has been lost all year if not longer, and the players have no confidence or faith in the DC. The Cruz bomb was the last straw. I think moving Has out and starting new this year gets us a good start on next season and gets some good will back amongst the defense.
I'm totally conflicted on this one Ryp.

On the hand, I agree wholeheartedly. Even Stevie Wonder could clearly see Haslett has to go. There's no debate there.

But on the other, do we trust Mike to upgrade the position? After all, he''s the one who handpicked Haslett to start with. And he's the one who's compounded that in the face of all rational and logic by sticking by him for 2 and half years to date. And he'll be the one with the final say on who comes in to replace Jim if a change is indeed made.

Honestly, do we truly trust Mike to make the best possible move in that instance?

    Hail.

No other team besides NO is getting Sean Payton. His year isn't up until April 2013. Way too late for any team besides NO to consider him.

That being said, I like Shanahan. He is doing a very good job with RG3 and if you look around the league, all franchise QB's have longevity with their coach. That being said, I do feel we need a new DC now.

For all of the Sean Payton guys on this thread...

Why would you guys want to hire him if no coach has EVER won a Super Bowl with two different teams?

I think Payton has a rare opportunity to make a **** ton of money right now. You see what he means to NO? He's arguably the best play caller in the game (coin toss betweeen he and McCarthy) and Jones has a lot of money and wants a winner.

I'm starting to wish they nabbed Pete Carroll years ago, which is sad.

Edit: up-and-coming assistant was kind of tongue-in-cheek
I hope so, but that really is the kind of logic we'd hear from Snyder. That Zorn filled that quota so we're not going that route again. Zorn was not upa nd coming and even if he was, that's no reason to think he's exactly the same as all up and coming assistants.

This is what would scare me about Shanahan leaving. I could see Snyder saying that he's tried everything else, so he might as well go back to playing fantasy football himself with the team like he use to.

RG3 has been on target and has gotten the ball to the receievers, they just aren't making plays.

Either way, I'd be more inclined to fire Haslett as well as revamp all of special teams (besides for Forbath, I'm loving that kid).
So...you want to fire Mike Shanahan and hire his son......

Is this for a football team or a reality show?

I will say this. If Bruce/Mike are fired, I'm absolutely terrified that Vinny will return.

Snyder should fire Kyle which would get Mike to quit, thus opting out of his contract.
Allen can then hire Chucky Gruden or Chip Kelly from Oregon to coach up RG lll.
Shanahan is not the guy for RG lll to grow up with in the NFL. Someone younger with creativity and fire is needed.
People want Shanny to fire Haslett when he won't even dump Danny Smith?

I echo the person who said we should NOT hire someone who already has a ring and should ideally hire someone who is around or under 50 years old.

I think the HC should definitely be a coordinator in the NFL currently, or someone who is an assistant HC.

I personally am a big fan of Winston Moss from Green Bay. Young, fiery, and would most likely be willing to let a GM handle the personnel stuff. We'd definitely need to bring in an OC with a lot of experience in order to maximize the talent we have at QB.

As for GM, I definitely am all for bringing in DeCosta. The Ravens have, IMO, been the best team in the NFL at identifying impact personnel through the draft and FA and DeCosta has been a big part of it.

Of course, none of this will happen. This is pretty much the exact plan that successful teams run, so why would the Redskins want to follow suit?

Is Rob Ryan a crazy pick?

    My rank is 4.Kyle, 3.Grimm, 2.Gruden, 1.Rob Ryan

I just think as long as they continue to have a GM and NOT Daniel Snyder making day-to-day FO decisions, all we need is a "young" exceptional, passionate coordinator for HC. But definitely a current coordinator, not a QB coach or Starbucks barista.

Rob Ryan is instant defense, with a competent OC that doesn't **** up the golden goose I don't see a down side.

I have no idea who should be GM but as long as they're competent, who cares?

Yeah thats, for the most part, what Allen does. Shanahan wanted GM powers and final say on player personnell. Bruce is more of a contract negotiator.

Its unlikely Mikeys going anywhere next season. Who else is going to want to come here? Whoever it is would walk into a team with a reduced salary cap; no first round draft picks for the next two years; and having to instill a new offense, defense and players.

I could be wrong and Shanny gets fired but then we would be worse off. If we have a coach in his first year we'll definetely have a subpar year and one the following season. If were going to have two bad seasons we might as well give MS at least one more now that he has a quality quarterback.
All the other D's with the pumped up schemes
You better run, better run, outrun my QB

You better run, better run, faster than RG3.

Snyder was a joke at the owner's meetings and I really think Snyder realize that he is not a gm and wants the fans to continue paying their hard earned money to watch quality football that Snyder and Vinny was not providing. Snyder is not a dummy and realized he was losing his fan base. At the end of the day I want a competent GM first before the team hires another coach.

Why do people think not having a first round draft pick for two years is the end of the world?????? The Giants All Pro front four were all drafted in the later rounds except for one JPP. The Green Bay Packers starting secondary is made up of rookies right now and mind you the Packers are not giving up the most yards in the passing game right now, and the list goes on and on of teams with either quality players or all pro players on defense and offense that was not selected in the first round. It helps in the odds of picking a stud player but the Skins have 2 thru 7 with additional picks in other rounds in 2013. The team has a franchise qb that is worth more than those two first round picks finally but this team can be built in the right direction IFFFFF the right person is running the ship.
