I'm seeing a lot of words like "circus" and "gimmick" getting thrown around when describing this year's offense ...
Were you thinking that after 7 games? If no ... do you think jumping ship after this two game slide against a real good proven defense in the Steelers and an underated defense in Carolina that THRASHED the 7-1 bears offense is a little premature?

This offense was hitting on all cylinders after 7 games, we have hit a 2 game slide and now we need to jump ship?
I think we all agree that Robert is special ... why not try something special with him?

I find myself going back and forth with Bang and Oldfan's posts. I believe they both have EXCELLENT points and the truth lies somewhere between them.
As for other teams "figuring us out"... I think they have, in a sense. It seems to me that to beat the Redskins, you have to play the run. While RG3 is a deadly accurate passer, our receivers are so pedestrian that they aren't a consistent threat to do much. So by playing the run, you force us to pass to our underdeveloped receivers (and Moss, who is on the decline). To me, it seemed that the Steelers and Panthers were both successful in doing just that, slowing down our run game and forcing us to rely on our receivers, and we see how that fared... drop, drop, drop, drop, drop...... Even with teams playing the run against us, we're still moving the ball decently on the ground, except....
Our defense allows other teams to march up and down the field and score on us at will. This puts added pressure on our offense to pass to stay in the game, such as the Steelers game. In the Panthers game, I attribute the true failure to questionable play calling in the Red Zone. We should have come away with 7 points and we wouldn't have been under such pressure to start passing the ball.
I mean, c'mon.... attempting three 4th down conversions in a single drive??? Do you honestly believe Shanahan would have kept going for it if he had ANY FAITH in our Defense at all????
I lost the Clinton Portis sig bet for the 2010 season...
