I started this thread b/c I wanted to know the reasons people were not voting. Please let's not start berating people who choose not to. We all have a choice, and not voting is a choice, even if some people don't like it.

I think you will find many more that agree with Asburyskinsfan than you. As many have said already, voting is a right, not a mandate. There are plenty of valid reasons for abstaining from voting and none of them are "selfish".

Grow up and show some respect for the decisions that others have made on this topic,. It;s out of bounds for you to judge anyone (especially with your piddly post count! psst: that was a joke before you freak out)

i'm the same way. i voted because i feel it's an obligation and because there were some initiatives i wanted to vote for. needless to say i didn't pull the lever for either of the major candidates.

I'll just sit back and watch. I'm pretty certain who is in the wrong here, but its more for the Mods to say further. I've said my peace.

add: Good idea on your edit. It was a bit over the top before

So what would you say to several of the decorated vets I work with from Vietnam to Gulf/Iraq/Af, three of whom seriously wounded, who aren't voting out of disdain for the system. I sure don't think they're disrespecting any fellow serviceman's memory, nor is anyone else making that kind of choice, IMO. I find that framing of that matter, from beginning to end, rife with problems. But I also believe you're coming from a place of reverence for those who have sacrificed so much, and it just took a significantly wrong turn (IMV).

It appears I missed something (re:SS's post), which I am always happy to hear.

Nope, I simply try to help you be more respectful to a long term poster who gave valid reasons for not wanting to vote. You called him selfish, and then said he had a stupid opinion. Not very nice when he simply responded on topic in this thread.

You were inappropriate in my humble opinion.

ETA: this thread is not meant to condemn people or to be rude, PLEASE!

I'm voting on all things non-personnel related. I will not vote, in my opinion, unqualified people into office. I know I've been called elitist, but I just can't vote for these imbeciles any more. When someone with the "it" factor runs (which is contrary to obtaining a party nomination) I will proudly vote.

why are you speaking for me? I did not call anyone in particular selfish, I just said not voting is selfish because your only thinking about yourself and not the rest of the country, its my opinion. I wasn't trying to offend anyone. I don't appreciate when people use God's name in vain on this message board, but I don't go harassing people because they may be disrespecting me.

You are taking this a bit far dont you think? Just relax, respect others and stop forcing me to clog up a perfectly good thread answering your defensive posture! Chill out and be nice to others.

As the OP, I'm gonna say this to you. You are entitled to your opinion, but this is a thread for people who aren't voting to share their stories. If you don't like the thread, nobody is forcing you to be in here, or to continue to post. And FWIW, you're the one who won't "drop it", IMO. So please, with all due respect, let these people share their stories and kindly leave the thread if you don't like what's being discussed.
