No you're right. I just felt like we let him go in the sense that he should've been offered a promotion to stay (like, assistant defensive coordinator - lb coach). The LBs loved him and he was the only creative mind on the staff after serving time under LeBoux.
EDIT: And for all I know, we did that and he felt like he was ready to lead his own show. So far, he's right. UCLA has been a whipping boy for the last several years and at least now he is helping keeping them respectful.
