I think Helu on IR really hurts this team more than we realize.
But Morris started game 1, and in my mind was the starter all year. THT Roy and Roy were all ailing this summer, and never established themselves as the clear number 1. The only person deceived were those (of us) that bought Mike's depth chart before game 1.
I think Williams is insurance for Royster. He filled that same 3rd down role before Royster. We need a THT, Torain, Mason, someone that can haul the ball. I thought part of Mike's thing was easily finding backs that can perform in his dominant run scheme.

I think Morris was going to win the starter spot sooner or later, but Helu was a major playmaker last year, and his speed is something teams have to account for. He's lacks power and was pretty flimsy after contact, but if he got in space, he was going to pick up 10 yards and fast. Him being on IR was a huge detriment, and Royster has seemingly regressed really badly.
More than anything though, we need a back who can block worth a damn. None of them seem able to do that.
Either I'm crazy or I really missed something... but you guys realize that Keiland Williams is not on this team and hasn't been for almost 2 years now right?
EDIT: The back up running back is Ryan Grant, and Williams is on the Lions last I checked... unless we've recently made a move...
EDIT 2: Nope... just looked it up... apparently I missed the **** out of that move...

FREE ROB
I won't lie. I had a mancrush on Keiland Williams coming out of college and I loved him in his limited time in Washington. He was getting better at pass protection and had sure hands out of the backfield. I love him as our power back in the goal line as well. Should be interesting to see if he gets used.
Robinson was untouched on that first pass of the game. He had to dive/slide to get low for the catch but it definitely passed through his hands and was catchable. Morgan (or perhaps someone else) got hit pretty well on third down of our first drive but Hardy was called for roughing the passer because he drilled Griffin in the head after the pass. Is that what you're referring to?
Redskins 2013 Opponents:
Home- Dallas, NY Giants, Philadelphia, Detroit, Chicago, San Francisco, Kansas City, San Diego
Away- Dallas, NY Giants, Philadelphia, Green Bay, Minnesota, Atlanta, Denver, Oakland
The first play of the game was definitely a play action pass from our own end zone and it was definitely a dart on a slant to Robinson. But I don't remember him getting hit at all and there certainly was not a penalty - the penalty came on a third down incompletion when Griffin drew a roughing the passer. Griffin deserved more of the fault for a low throw as he had a clean pocket and Aldrick was wide open, but Aldrick still made a nice adjustment to get to the ball and got his hands on it, just did not come up with it.
Oh well, I don't really remember how we got into discussing this single play on a thread about roster moves haha. Been a long day so I don't even really remember what the original point was, but bottom line, I hope Robert AND our receivers can pick it up a little because that play is a microcosm of exactly what's been wrong with our offense the last two weeks: Receivers not concentrating on just bringing the ball in and making the catch combined with Robert being just enough off on many of his throws that it turns an easy completion into something the receivers must work that much harder for. It simply creates that much less room for error on a team that already is struggling.
Yea, Faildrick just failed to catch the ball. he wasn't hit at all. >_<
why is he even starting?
