    Brown didn't get a death sentence from the voters because he compromised. If anything, that is the only reason the race was as close as it was in that deepest of deep blue states.

    Good point, though the GOP moderates seem to be fading in to history amazingly fast.

    I wonder how much of that was based on the fact that after WWII very few children from 'elite' or other families of means had their children serve in the military.
