I thought we were crazy to sign Garcon for as much as we did, no way he's earned that contract imo. I haven't quit on him yet though. I think I'm like most people, I want to see more. Coles had an attitude problem as well which I hope Garcon doesn't have

I'm still surprised the Redskins (Mike Shanahan) had the stones to actually tell the media that Garcon could play if he could tolerate the pain. The guy has a torn plantar plate in his foot that was diagnosed at the end of October. Makes you wonder why the Redskins didn't know this earlier and why he was allowed to practice on it.

Hopefully not another Landry situation and needs surgery to get better and he refuses to get it.

I believe they said he could play if he could take the pain before we knew there was something torn. And they could also mean his body is intact enough he could run.

Ok if that's the case. Get the surgery or give the team their money back. Didn't pay for a broken WR.

What a out the part where the surgery might not be effective and he has to live with the pain for the rest of his life?

Do we ever luck out with free agents

Yes. What about the part where anything may not work in any situation?

If you need to ask if we ever luck out with free agents, then you are letting hyperbole and revisionist history get in your way.

Not quite sure what you're trying to say here.

My understanding: He was feeling something even before the Saints game, and Garcon didn't report it because he didn't want to look like a wuss and didn't think that it was too serious. He then downplayed the severity. The Saints game happens and it gets much worse. He again plays it down, trying to tough it out for his team. Then it was misdiagnosed because of our incompetent medical staff combining with Garcon's continued "nah man, it's not that serious" act.

He's trying REALLY hard for his team, and that whole wanting to be a man thing will probably cost him this season. Funny how that works out some times.

He's just trying to be a man, and it's making him look like an idiot at this point. Get the ****ing surgery, be shut down for the season, and be ready when we start in OTAs.

my point is the people are saying because the team says he could technically play with the pain some are calling him a wuss. But they could just mean his leg won't bend sideways on him if he tried to run.

Is Garcon's injury different than Coles? I thought it was.

Garcon played 1 quarter... It's a difficult injury to heal because of the lack of blood to the foot...

Vinny Cerrato believes he gave Jim Zorn a roster that can make the playoffs. A playoff kicker doesn't miss that kick. A playoff safety doesn't bite multiple times by a double move in the same game.

Garcon is a wuss. Cut him now. Bring back Armstrong.

Garcon said, per USA TODAY Sports. “It’s not 100%. It’s a pain all the time. Walking, running, cutting. All the time. I’ll probably have to deal with it the rest of my life. “I never really want to get surgery unless it’s a must. The surgery is not guaranteed to fix it, so that’s another thing. I’ve never had surgery. If I have to get surgery, I’ll get it, but they’ll have to put me under for a long time and do it while I’m not paying attention at all.”

Honestly, I think everyone's giving him too much of a hard time. If it was a more recognizable injury, like an ACL tear, the comments would center around "that's a blow, but we'll see him next year". The Skins aren't going to keep a WR on the roster indefinitely who can't play, so to see if it will heal before undergoing season ending surgery seems like a conservative approach. If it means he misses the rest of the year fine. If he's still complaining at the beginning of next year's training camp, then I have an issue.

He should do the exact opposite of whatever the Redskins medical staff suggests.

The timeline for him healing IF he has the surgery should be factored into his decision, more importantly the Redskins organization. If its a 3 month healing process, thats one thing; but if its a longer timeline, say 6-8 months, then it becomes a question of his availability for the next season.

If he decides to hold off as long as possible, and the healing process takes 8 months, then he's almost toast for the next season, or at least a good portion of it. Being he would be off his feet, he still would need to get into football shape once it healed, which takes longer.

Sounds like someone needs to seriously weigh the options and stop the delaying and second guessing...

I think..........not an indictment of his character or pain threshold, but this is just another case of terrible bad luck for this team. Call it Coles 2.0, or Harper 2.0.........or insert redskins wr name here..............this team has had bad luck with wr's since the Posse's days were done (with the aberration being Henry Ellard at the end of his career here).
