When the tough gets going... Texas, et al. start a running.

Love all the crap they were spouting four years ago about being "real" Americans shown to be absolute bull. I understand for many this is an election hangover, but as bad as Bush was I never considered abandoning ship.

    Shame on them.

President Obama’s opponents have unwittingly come up with a brilliant plan to avoid the “fiscal cliff.” They want to secede from the union.

If Obama were serious about being a good steward of the nation’s finances, he’d let them.

You know, this is mass idiocy at its best. Grow up you bunch of sore losers. I mean, I could see the outrage if this was the first term that he was elected to, but it's just a re-election of the same guy we've had in office for 4 years. You should be used to it by now. Just do the same thing I did and ride it out for 4 years. I didn't vote for either party in the last 2 elections and voted independent thrid party. But I'm not going to succeed from the union or move to Switzerland any time soon. Man up ya bunch of wusses!

I was just thinking about the Sudan being nothing but a desert. But I see where you are going with the Uganda thing. Props.

First of all, not of these "requests" are official. When the actual states ask to break from the union, wake me up.

Second. It's the law. States can not legally break from the union.

and Third... these people are morons.

Which reminds me... speaking of morons....A special note to "the Donald"... You want a revolution? Great. If it happens, I'm coming for you.

You sign the petition, haven't you been paying attention?

But I think you are missing the point... this is no vacation. You get to move there. Just think... you wont have to deal with all of those pesky regulations any more. Just don't drink the water.

I don't usually post this sort of thing but this gave me a chuckle.

Why is this story being so widely reported? Same thing happened in 2000 and 2004 and I don't remember the mainstream media reporting of the "Jesusland" sour grapes idea from the left. Anyway this isue was settled in 1865, the Constitution is a binding document that binds any and every state to the Union. Any attempt at a real succession will be met with force (i.e In the United States there is no such thing as a peaceful secession).

Last count I heard was over 40 states. How funny would it be if it made it all the way to 50.
Do you think these morons would even realize they have petitioned to dissolve the united states all together.

I was wondering the same, people do this after every election. But, I don't think the White House had that online petition thing set up before that's why this is different. I guess.

Texas has been doing this for the past what? 150+ years.

    Is this a joke post?

The media of 2012 is completely different than the media of 2000. There is 50 times more media now, and every stupid or funny story gets coverage somewhere. In fact, I think you missed the fact that the original news story in the OP was a "serious" piece from from WorldNetDaily, not CBS News. WorldNetDaily is ultra-conservative, and it didn't even exist in 2000.

Of course, now people clowning on the story, but they would be clowning on the story just the same if Obama had lost the 2012 election and a bunch of butt-hurt liberals started posting butt hurt petitions and word got out on the internet.

In short, your Liberal Media Bias Alert Meter is pegged about 50 notches too high.
