Hasn't Texas always seen themselves as an independent nation? Wasn't that their stance even when they joined the union?
Interesting dynamic. New U.S. gets that texas oil, florida beaches, and some good car plants, while the old U.S. gets Hollywood, Silicon Valley, West Virginia coal, and Vermont maple syrup.
These people could pool their money and buy an island somewhere and declare themselves a sovereign country, make their own laws etc. There's no one stopping them from doing that. Heck, they could even set it up where they don't pay taxes if they don't want.
Course, they'd have to buy an island that has a high enough dead volcano/mountain so when the oceans start creeping up the shore, they won't get submerged, since there's no such thing as global warming.
everyone who signed a petition for this should have their names published on cnn.com.
Anyone else remember in 2004? "You must always support you president or you're a traitor". Apparently too many on the right forget that bit of rhetoric.
What're you cackling at, fatty? Too much pie, that's your problem!
Yeah but this president is like...not one of us, you know? He is different. Foreign. So that can be ignored for now.
For the record, Colorado went to Obama and we also legalized pot.
We put them down once, and we can do it again if need be.
More sour grapes from the right. Again, I'm not surprised the noise from Texas. I wonder if Jon Stewart address this yet.
For the record, Colorado voted for Obama. We also legalized marijuana.
we should just ship all the petitioners to canada or somethin
I think we should all sign a petition to get the petitioners exiled to North Korea.
I like how these are mostly all of the food stamp states that voted Red. I will personally create a damn charity for these morons to GTFO of this Country. We can ship them to the world's true libertarian paradise....Somalia. NO taxes or evil gubmint to break the backs of these true independents any longer.

Ah,,the joke that the right has become.
People say this board too a left turn.
I don't think so.
I think the right got bat**** crazy, and they have yet to figure this out.
go ahead, take your 25K and go find an island. call it Trumpland or something clever.

Say they get released. The active duty military units (if the state has them) remain in the union. All federal funds are cut. Wouldn't they have to pay the US for all federal lands / buildings / etc they take when they leave? My mind is hurting from contemplating this. Isn't there an amendment that forbids such successions? My political knowledge is limited. This just sounds crazy to me.
The only downside is that the only Big-12 teams WVU can seem to beat are from Texas. We need them to stay for that reason alone. LOL
