It has just been hard to actually do anything across the aisle the past few years, so even though Warner has been making efforts, there haven't been too many real results just yet.
If he can play a part in getting the fiscal cliff resolved, I think that Warner might have something to contribute in the Senate. If it all devolves into partisan nonsense, then I think it might make sense for Warner to get out and return to Richmond.
