my point is that while Republicans are trying to figure out what's wrong, if the Dems took advantage of the situation by putting qualified, competent, and non-radioactive members in party leadership positions. That's a signal to the voter that they are ready to move forward while the other guys are giving it a go with McConnell and Boehner and Cantor.

Familiar to the economy argument that worked this election. The guys that were drunk driving and crashed the car are complaining what route they're being towed back for repairs.

Since the Republicans are bound to be Tea Partied in the 2014 Primaries; their Dem opponents will help out to ensure the right wacko becomes their opponent. The Republicans cost themselves at least 5 seats the last 2 cycles by going with wackos. They are bound to do that again in 2014 and 2016.
Just an opinion, but I don't think Kilmer was saying that subsidizing whacko Tea Partiers wouldn't work. I suspect that he was commenting on the (lack of) morality in such an action.

Who said there was morality in Politics? Never has been and never will be.

Midterms don't often result in a big surge towards the party occupying the White House at the time.

2014 is projected to be bad year for DEMS- 6 year itch. Thing is, since 2012 bucked historical trends; I think 2014 could to. At least partially. I could see The Republicans finally get the seats they need to win back the Senate but odds are they will nominate some more nutty pro-lifers or witches. During Clinton's impeachment year; the Dems buck the trend. Think the Dems gained some seats??? I can't remember, but they did better than expected in 1998.

As for the House, I think if the Republicans really obstruct the next 2 years; they will receive 100% of the blame and could very well loose control. That is what Nancy is banking on.

Frankly, it is in Obama's best interest for their to be no deal until next year. Whenever everyone's taxes go up and the sequester thing happens- he can then blame the Republicans. In January, he can then propose a new deal and if it doesn't happen- blame the Republicans. A majority will side with Obama.
