Default Thanksgiving Tailgate/Roll Call (Updated 11/20)

Lots of people in various threads dropping hints that they might want to get together... I am goin to attempt to get things organized here a bit... Mods... A "sticky" for a couple of days would be appreciated if possible to see if we can pick up traction on this...

The "where" would be MidSouth Parking lot.... You can purchase their passes on eBay for $33 I believe. They have a free shuttle to and from game and last year it saved me a bunch of time avoiding traffic post game.

The lot itself is private, smaller, and they have plenty of areas to tailgate as well as actually indoor plumbing/restrooms

I am going to be there from OKC, staying in Dallas for a few days with my family. Going to the game with my father-in-law, a Cowboys fan. I will not get to the lot until 12:30-1:00, and I will not have the means to really "bring it" food-wise.... No grill, etc...

But the idea here would simply be to organize a gathering spot for Skins fans and maybe each person could contribute a little something. Nothing fancy or complicated at all.

Lets get a roll call of who would be willing to commit to meeting there and contributing and we will see if its worth the trouble.

    ......:

    Details:

Where: Midsouth parking lot. Follow link to purchase pass and get directions

    http://midsouthparking.com/2012/08/redskins-vs-cowboys/

    When: Thursday 11-22 at noon(ish)

What: An informal gathering/tailgate of Redskins fans prior to the game

MintHillSkinsFan has agreed to be the "hub" for the occasion. He will arrive around the time the lot opens at noon. He will be set up around a blue Nisaan Frontier and he will be wearing a burgundy Riggo jersey.

I am viewing this as an informal gathering, but we do need a head count, etc so we can figure out what we need.

I will be there with my father-in-law sometime around 12:30. We will likely take the shuttle to the stadium around 2:00 because he has never seen Jerryworld and its fun to walk around when you get there. But we will be able to hang out for an hour and a half or so and would love to help organize all Skins fans interested in gathering.

Lets get a roll call going and I will update this post as they come in. Please list when you will arrive (approx), how many will be with you, and what you'd be willing to contribute.

EVERYONE SIMPLY BRING YOUR OWN STUFF. Looks like Minthill will have a grill and has been kind enough to offer it up to anyone who wants to use it, but you will need to provide your own food. It would be nice if everyone brought a little extra of whatever they are bringing to share, but this way everyone is responsible for their own food/drink and we can just concentrate on enjoying the day. I'm sure there will be plenty to eat and drink once everyone arrives.

I'd prefer to avoid the shuttle thing but if enough people are going to do it then I'm open. I definitely want to tailgate somewhere. I have a grill and will probably grab some brats and burgers or whatever. Let's see who else is in.

Also, their website says they provide tables and chairs and have big screens set up.

It actually does look like a pretty sweet setup.

Hey everyone. I just moved from Va to Tx a few months ago and I just bought my ticket to the game. I would love to meet up with some people next week. I want to get a good crowd if we can. I am all about meeting some Skins fans. I would prefer to meet people when the lots open but let's see how many people we get. I have a grill as well and I am open to whatever. I am also open to lot closer to the stadium if we get a good size group of people.

First of all, thanks to the mods for the sticky...we can see how much traffic/response this thread gets and go from there....
    Here are my thoughts:

--Probably too late in the game to organize a legit monster tailgate. Here is what I propose:

We need one person/group to commit to being sort of a "leader" on this. They'd need to get there early, set up camp, have a few supplies, etc...

From there, I think a casual "meet and greet" would work best. I know some people (like me) won't be able to get there until a little later. If we have one designated spot and someone to captain that spot, then others can come and go.

My fear is that some good soul will volunteer to be the man and then no one else will show. So we need a pretty good count of who is willing to commit to attending, approx when you will arrive, and what you'd be willing to contribute.

I already purchased my Midsouth pass so that's where I will be. The lot is great...shutte runs consistently, gets you close, and the tables, chairs, TVs, restrooms, etc are a nice bonus.

So, before we go further we need someone to step up and volunteer to be the epicenter of this thing...I just don't think I can get there early enough to do it.

I'll be there. I'm going to purchase my pass today. Website says it opens 3 hours prior to the game so I'm going to show up around noon. I have a pickup, a grill, and I'll probably bring my canopy just in case we don't end up in a covered spot.

Sounds like you will get there as early as we can, so would you be willing to be the "central location?" Meaning, everyone can look for your setup and meet there?

Sure, I can do that. I have a blue Nissan Frontier and I'll probably wear my Burgundy Riggins jersey.

Just to be clear, I can bring some extra burgers and dogs to share but if you want to be guaranteed to eat then it may be a good idea to bring your own meat. My grill will be available for anyone who wants to throw their stuff on. In fact, I may even have one charcoal and one gas grill.

I definitely think folks should more or less fend for themselves....all depends on what sort of count we get. So far, we have three people so it shouldn't be too tricky

Hey guys. Sounds good about the tailgate. Depending on how many people we get on here I can bring my grill as well if needed. I will probably be there when the lot opens as well. Should be a great time. I will buy my parking pass this weekend.
