So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish
All zoony was missing in that rant was a Mike Shanahan reference......
Agreed on the shopping. Black Friday sucks.
I don't always agree with Zoony, but when I do, it's in this thread.
My home town was carved out of swampland.
@chthomas91
Why would you fight the retail public when the best deals are online?
Oh, right. Because people are ****ing stupid.
Remember when stores would be closed, close early or have abridged hours on Sundays?
Yeah, retail folks having the day off on Thanksgiving will be a thing of the past. We'll be able to look back on the "good ol' days" when people didn't have to work on Thanksgiving and they could be with their families.
Ok...so according to the PM I got, on Turkey Day I'm supposed to pick zoony and Henry up at Target and then we meet PCS at Gold's and then it's over to the mall-o-plaza and when we're done shopping we go to Chen's for Happy hour and to watch the boys/'skins, right? Should I have posted that here?
"Captain, it's a viewpoint--not one of ours! We're under attack!"
"I see it, ensign! Engage amygdala! Transfer all power from frontal lobes!
Suspend critical thinking field! Go to course heading of reflexive response 101 at full bias!
Now!'Enter' at will!"
"It ain't what you don't know that gets you into trouble. It's what you know for sure that just ain't so."
People still go shopping . . . in person?
Wow.
The internet has replaced shopping people. Cyber Monday. Get with the program.![]()
with things the way they are, no matter the situation, people will always have to work on any holiday. Can't necessarily place blame on the shoppers (I'm not one btw) - it's the companies doing and encouraged by them. The crowds will be big whether it be 8pm, 12 am, 2 am - brings me to my next point...
There's so many things that cause people to work so the blame can be placed on the ones that sit at home and watch tv, get on the internet, etc. (companies stay open for customers regardless if it's in person communication or over the phone communication)

The Hands Will Come
I don't see what the big deal is. If you're arguing that it forces store employees to have to work and miss time with their families, then someone could make the exact same argument about NFL choosing to play football games and forcing stadium staff to work that day. But people who work at Jerrah-land know what the deal is, just like people who work in retail.
Personally you wouldn't ever catch me at a black Friday sale (or at a football game on Thanksgiving), but its the thing for some people, and it's a tradition in some families.

My dad works at a Jos A Bank and he has to work thanksgiving, too. Its ridiculous, like who the hell is going to go in and get fitted for a suit on turkey day? I guess if you buy one sock and get seven free, deals like that are hard to resist over being with your f'n family. I basically have to go over to my mom's and not just help her cook but stay with her all day. Otherwise, she'd be in that apt by herself most of the day because my sister has to work, too. I planned to stay over there anyway, but the fact half my immediate family has to work on this holiday, we couldn't go out of town to see other family in DC because of this crap.
What kinda holiday is this???
We don't know what we think, we don't know what we know. All we have to go on, is what we say and what we show...
also, to the ones that are against black friday, read this article posted by my brother on his colleges newspaper.

Completely agree.

Another good point.

I agree. The only thing I don't like about it though is that most of my family members don't have a clue about football. So I'm sitting there biting my tongue, listening to them talk about the game. Drives me nuts, sometimes.
Last year I worked an overnight shift at Starbucks on Black Friday. Started at 10pm on Thanksgiving and ended at 6am the next day.
No complaints from me. I was straight up stealing money (from lack of customers).
