If you don't want to work on holidays, then find a job that is closed on holidays. I work in Retail. I knew that when I took the job that I would be working every other weekend, that we were open most holidays and I would have to rotate through them. I still took the job because the benefits out weighed those things. I have a family and 3 year old and spend lots of time with them. I dont need one designated day that I have to call a "Family Day".
Errr, black friday shopping on thanksgiving is a litte bit different than service jobs performed by doctors and emergency personnel. You can't honestly compare them

Actually I can. Even in the medical field, if you don't want to holidays, you can get a different job. A physician could have went the family medicine route instead of ER work. Hell, my family doctor closed Mid day weds till the following Monday. My brother in law who works Urgent Care, and use to work Emergency Medicine, always works holidays. He doesn't complain because he prefers that work instead of doing family care. His choice.

All I'm saying is that I don't get this uproar on places opening on holidays. It's part of their job description. Whether you are bussing tables or putting your life on the line by putting out someone's fried turkey experiment gone wrong.

Yes, cancel them. Parades are stupid. In this day and age of on demand programming we can live without giant inflatable dogs floating down the street. They were just another commercial bastardization of a Holiday. I'm sure the Pilgrims didn't leave England so we could have a giant Spiderman float down Madison Ave. We don't need to watch football, it's just a nice perk.

Your explanation makes no sense. Comparing life saving jobs that are necessary to ensure public safety to retail jobs that are not necessary to prevent injury and death is just asinine.

It does make sense. Im not saying we should shut down hospitals. Im saying there is no need for an uproar about having retail stores open on holidays. If having Thanksgiving off is such a big deal to u then get another job.

I don't know, never participated. I can't imagine there being a deal worth enduring that type of mental distress.

My wife went out early on Friday AM (only the second time ever but she can be an *******, but that's beside the point) and we went out again today for stuff she was on the fence on. She is pretty sure that Target and a few other stores actually raised prices on some of the things she wanted to buy on Black Friday and they were lower today.

I bought my wife a Nikon SLR and got it for $250 off the normal price at Target tonight. Normally $799

Maybe I'm wrong about all this stuff. I'll be shopping next year on thanksgiving . (Just jokes people)

I went in to buy toilet paper and coffee creamer. Came out with a camera

Why do you hang out on a board run by nazi mods? That's the better question.

Well dang, that is a great deal. Maybe I should get my ass off the couch and go shopping...next year.

And for the record, you just experienced a typical shopping trip for me...go to store for bananas, come back with 6 dvd's and no bananas (in fact, that happened to me last night)
