I strongly disagree that wins trump everything when it comes to this award. It has much more to do with how much credit should be given to the individual in question for a teams success. Dalton didnt win it last year in large part because most could see that their defense was a much larger part of the Bengals success than was Dalton.

Every time I see someone rabidly supporting Luck while at the same time trashing RG3, they bring up QBR. It's going to be interesting to see if they continue to flash this "stat" now that RG3 has a higher QBR than Luck (73.6 to 71.6). In fact, using ESPN's QBR, Luck had a terrible game (31.4 QBR) and RG3 had a great game (86.5 QBR). I'm not bashing Luck, I think he is going to be great. I'm just tired of hearing RG3 trashed by those that want Luck to be the superior QB.

How useless is QBR? Luck is likely to win Rookie of the Week despite putting up the inferior QBR score for the week.

completion percentage under 50% and 3 int's in a game should never win rookie of the week. i mean nice comeback, sure, but he played like poopoo for 3 and a half quarters.

Voting early and often for RGIII. He captained his team to a MNF win over the reigning Superbowl Champs. How great is that?!

If you would have quoted (or read) the whole paragraph you would have saw where I clearly said wins isn't the only thing.

nobody said you did. you said it was the most important thing, and that's what i quoted, and argued against. if you want to backtrack on the statement that (quote) "It's definitely the most important stat. Wins trumps everything." then be my guest.

Good point. Essentially, he had to come back due, in part, to his mistakes earlier in the game. It's like missing a bunch of layups just to pad your rebounding stats.
"Washington strolled to the NFC championship, outscoring their two playoff opponents by a combined total of 48 points. Their domination was more than impressive, it was historic. The 1991 Redskins boasted the largest average margin of victory among all Super Bowl champions."

Dude, this is my last attempt: what I'm saying is if the Colts go from 2 wins to 11, then he's probably gonna win the ROY. I was sort of looking at it from how I felt the voters were gonna react to all the numbers they have at their disposal. In other words, despite all of Luck's turnovers, if he got to 11 wins, then the TO's would likely be overlooked enough for him to win. But that's provided that RG3 doesn't win out and win the division, etc Too early to tell on ROY... Admittingly, I could have worded my other post better though.

He doesn't have any chance this week. Nor should he. He isn't even the most deserving on his own team this week. I'd give Morris the edge there. But clearly, if Russell Wilson doesn't win the award this week, they shouldn't bother having it.

    Nice summary from CNNSI:
    http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/201...si_mostpopular

    Offensive Rookie of the Year

    1. Robert Griffin III, Redskins (1). The former Baylor star is The Truth. Lethal as a passer, dangerous as a runner, and mature beyond his years in the pocket and off the field, Griffin is simply an incredible talent.

    2. Andrew Luck, Colts (2). Over the last four games he has thrown eight picks and seven touchdowns, but in the only statistic that matters his team is contending for a playoff spot with six wins in its last seven games, including five that required comebacks in the fourth quarter or overtime.

    3. Russell Wilson, Seahawks (NR). He's often overshadowed by his more celebrated classmates, but Wilson has been money in recent weeks. He has thrown for at least two touchdowns in five straight games, with only one interception during that time. He also has had a passer rating in excess of 104.0 in four straight outings, with three wins in those games.

i agree that rg3 doesn't really deserve it this week. i don't think luck's game was that great either. give it to wilson or even morris, in my opinion (i know morris isn't on the list).

I'm sorry, I know Colts fans love their guy just as much as we love ours, but some of these "but Luck is 8-4" folks need to stop homering and acknowledge the facts.

I mean look at Indy's schedule, what a joke. Titans x2, Jaguars x2, Jets, Dolphins, Bills, Browns, Chiefs...are you serious?! If RG3 got to play the Colts schedule this year, Redskins would probably be 8-4 as well, if not better.

And I just realized that Indy hasn't played the Texans yet, they don't play until week 15 & 17. Texans will have the AFC homefield locked up by then, so Houston might be sitting a bunch of their starters, turning what would normally be two automatic losses for the Colts into two winnable games. I woulnd't be surprised if Matt Schaub, Arian foster, and Andre Johnson, and Owen Daneils don't play against the Colts week 17...

I keep reading how it should go to Luck from bouncing back from a 2 win season last season. That's "one season". Singular.

We've had 20 YEARS of bad to mediocre season of bad QB play. We've had some good performances but they've been few and far between. I mean really. Oh you're team had a bad year last year? We've had two bad decades. STFU with that.

Robert should when ROY this year, easily.

I am getting so sick of this whole debate (not specifically on ES). There is a thread called "luck vs rgiii" on every team's board and the amount of just pure ignorance on both sides is nauseating.

And if I hear the injury bs one more ******* time....I remember the play on Monday where Osi hit RGIII and Gruden freaking out. When in reality, EVERY SINGLE QUARTERBACK IN THE LEAGUE TAKES THE SAME HIT EVERY ******* WEEK.

To be honest, if we played the Dolts straight up this year, we'd murk them, and RG3 would go HAM. He'd have a much better game than Luck.
