I'm actually surprised RGIII isn't an option. What he did with one leg last Sunday was amazing.

So taking out the states with conflicts of interest, RGIII is unanimously the RoTY.
Yeah, Luck loves throwing to receivers in coverage, so they get tackled almost immediately. RGIII places the ball well generally, and picks the WR who is generally somewhat open, so he's getting lots of YAC. Really the only guy who RGIII can't take most of the credit for for YAC is Garcon, because he's just a monster after the catch with his power and extra gear.

Honestly, as much as I love Morris, Wilson should win it. 337 all purpose yards, 3 TDs, averaged like 7.6YPC on 13 carries. I'm viewing it as a fluke game until we see more, but it was a really good week.
RGIII leads not just the rookies, BUT THE ENTIRE NFL in QBR with 3 games left. It's not even close, in my opinion. Pundits just want the perception of a close race to draw ratings.
i don't think RG3 stands a chance if he misses time...just my opinion
There's a similar thread on the Colts forum, and they truly believe Luck is hands down RoY. What's their best argument? "He has them in the playoffs"
Im kind of surprised that he didn't beat out one of these other rookies. At least Luck isn't an option either as that would have made me really shake my head with the game he had... Interesting that Nick Foles made the final 5 for the week.
I think this week it has to go to David Wilson or Alfred.. Im a little biased though.
As far as ROTY goes I think you have to be a very biased Colt fan to think it could be anyone other than RGIII. If RG can't play against Cleveland I don't think it would have a big impact on the voting. If he misses more than one game however I think that might result in Luck getting the award depending on how he plays his final three games. If he ends up with the same number of INTs as TDs at the end of the year (as he is on pace for) and still gets the ROTY Ill be stunned.

that argument just might also be slapped as they are about to play the Texans twice and the Texans need both games to make sure NE doesn't get the home field advantage. The Texans probably know they have no chance in hell beating NE when if they endup playing them away. So that 9-4 probably becomes 9-6.
Now, let's be fair: Luck would likely have better stats, and maybe an extra win, if Bruce Arians wasn't a garbage coordinator. He's basically the Jim Haslett of offense, who gets credit for being a mastermind but when you actually look at the evidence, he's mediocre at best. Honestly, the whole debate has really skewed my perception of Luck - Luck is a 9.75 to RGIII's 10, not a 7.
Just take a look at the route trees they run, and what they ran in Pittsburgh. They're not there. Virtually every route is one that takes 5-7 seconds to develop. They give up on the run. They don't design plays to get WRs open. They hardly utilize the two stud TEs they drafted. There are few underneath routes. They've coached Luck to not even look at the checkdown read when it is there, and just push it down the field come hell or high water even against deep zone coverage.
RGIII does throw to more open guys, because Kyle Shanahan is a mastermind at play design overall, and Mike Shanahan's base version of the WCO is one of the best offensive schemes ever devised (3 Super Bowl wins in a 5 year period from 1994 to 1998), and they've only ADDED to it with the pistol and zone read. Why can't Luck run a zone read? Why can't they at least sell the play action or try to? Where are the quick slants? Arians is almost running a 1980s pre-WCO scheme...and Andrew Luck's numbers look exactly like that of a QB out of that scheme.
In short, maybe the huge gulf between the two QBs - a gulf that I never expected to be this overwhelming (the general consensus was that RGIII would not be arguably the best QB in the NFL before the end of year 1) is due to the fact that the Shannys have set RGIII up to succeed, and the Colts have set Luck up to fail.

I think we can all agree that the way luck reads defenses and finds open safeties and linebackers is far ahead of where RG3 is at right now. I've seen him pumpfake his own man just to open up a safety on a deep third route. I'm sorry but did you see that pass to the linebacker WHILE he was getting sacked? Not every qb can make that play, his touch and ability to find the open man in traffic is unbelievable. Thinking about dropping 8 into coverage? Luck just smiles, more targets for him to throw to. I've seen him make throws to his 6th or 7th read routinely. Forget RotY, this guy has my vote for MVP.
See, while I agree that the coordinator should bear some of the blame, I really think the checkdown thing falls squarely on Luck. I don't think any coordinator or coach would tell a QB not to take a checkdown when everyone else is covered, if they are, then they're 10X worse than I thought.
I do however think it's something they're probably just letting slide though. They're probably thinking it's just a bad habit he'll grow out of, which is dangerous thinking because if he doesn't it'll be that much harder to break a couple years down the road.
Alfred Morris has been named Rookie of the week. That's his second ROW award. Griff has won 6 times. Andrew Luck has won 3 times.
