Dude Cam Newton was amazing last year as a rookie, had the best rookie season a QB has ever had. But he turned the ball over at an alarming rate. But the difference between Luck and Cam was that Luck is clutch when it matters most. Cam had very few comeback wins last year, if any.
It's a credit to Luck that he is able to overcome all the turnovers and still win games.
Btw, what are these "shady dealings" you speak of? The Colts were getting critiqued late last year for NOT tanking games. I remember guys that cover the NFL saying they were crazy for beating the Texans late in the season. And I think they nearly won their last game, too. They were not tanking games. You don't beat the Texans last year if you were tanking. That's one of the silliest arguments I've heard yet.

shows a real sign of homerism when people aren't willing to give Luck his dues. He's 8-4, on a team that was more or less where we were talent wise when you consider the schedule. Compound the fact the structural heiarchy was handicapped when his coach got cancer, you really have to admire how he's orchestrated the offense. RG III is a phenom, world class...but it'd be stupid to say Luck isn't in his league.
They are both good guys, too. The maturity, poise and talent each guy has shown this year is just amazing. Haven't really heard a negative thing about either guy.

It's the media coverage. Every time either of them have a big game, it's followed up by someone in each "Camp" saying something like "Oh god, now we have to hear about Luck/RGIII all week."
It's pretty telling when you have some people who's hatred/dislike/downplaying of a particular player is seemingly solely determined by the amount of coverage they get on tv.

I don't get it either. There's room for more than one great QB in the NFL. As much as we've sucked at the position the last two decades, if our biggest beef now is whether or not we have the next Brady or Manning, or Montana or Elway, then we have it pretty good. I really don't care.
We as Skins fans really have no reason to wish failure on Luck. The Colts fans on the other hand I can see wishing failure on RG3. They don't wanna be known as the team that passed on a better player to take Luck.
But we knew what we were getting. We had no decision to make.
I haven't seen Luck's games so I can't comment on his skill. I'm sure he'll be fine though.
Eli Manning will be 31 years old when the 2012 season starts.Michael Vick will be 32 years old when the 2012 season starts.Tony Romo will be 32 years old when the 2012 season starts.ROBERT GRIFFIN III will be 22 years old when the 2012 season starts.
He's good but he's not as good as Griffin is. Less accurate, forces throws into coverage, tries to do too much even when the situation doesn't call for drastic measures...
I'd probably be happy if he was our QB relative to all the guys we've had before Griffin but if there was a re-draft I would strongly consider putting him as the #3 QB behind Wilson on my draft board. He's also got the most room for improvement in is game, though, so he could still wind up outshining everybody.
Seriously
Even I was throwing out a few wtf's with the rampantness of sall of the RGIII commercials at the beginning of the season. He was all over the place, on every channel I watched, he has lit up the NFL world week after week, yet people still want to complain, after any time that we've been talked about these last 2-3 years, usualoly a laugh/snicker followed. Some people really need to enjoy this, asnd get a little perspective.

My problem with Luck is he is getting hyped like he's a stud QB when the thing is that HE'S NOT THAT GOOD.
He's the 3rd best rookie QB this year easily. And frankly, Weeden's been nearly as productive with less talent around him and an organization in absolute meltdown mode.
Last year, he'd be behind Newton and Dalton.
His production is more in line with Sam Bradford or Mark Sanchez or Joe Flacco.
And while his team is kind of bad, maybe as bad as our supporting cast overall but not any worse, he's just not that great of a thrower right now on a consistent basis. He makes bad decisions under pressure. He turns the ball over a LOT. He's technically sound, and smart, and is pretty accurate, and he does have his moments of being poised. And that offense can score at times. But they've largely beat up on ****ty teams, and except for the Packers, they've not only lost to good teams, they've been blown off the field. The Colts schedule to date has been against teams with a COMBINED record of around .400.
I'm sorry, Andrew Luck has as many GAMES with 3+ INTs as Robert Griffin has interceptions on the season. Luck will probably be a fine QB, but as it stands, I don't think he's even in the same galaxy as RGIII. RGIII is a top 10 QB. Luck is a bottom 15 QB, maybe a bottom 10 QB.

Redskins schedule is a combined 64-51-1. Colts? 53-68. Redskins defense is ranked 30th against the pass and has blown multiple leads when Griffin has put the team ahead. How many turnovers does Luck have compared to Griffin this year? An absolute TON. If Griffin turned the ball over like that, the Redskins wouldn't sniff any wins. I think Luck's had an incredible year, but that schedule he's played is extremely weak. The whole team was exposed when they actually played a real team in the Pats.
Luck turning the ball over a bunch today against the now 4-8 Lions and winning is impressive, but if Griffin beats the defending world champion Giants tomorrow on Monday Night Football, it will not even come close
