Can you name the other rookie QB of the past decade who won a playoff game and had:

    1. A top 5 defense
    2. A top 5 run offense
    3. Multiple pro-bowl offensive linemen
    TJ Yates?

Nope on all three of those. Houston only had one pro-bowl Offensive Lineman and the Ravens had none Flacco's rookie year. Vick didn't qualify on all levels, including even making it to the playoffs.

Ding Ding Ding. This is the one I was thinking of. The Jets had the #1 Defense, #1 Rushing Offense, and Three Pro-Bowl Offensive Lineman.

I'll admit. I didn't even think about Big Ben but I went and checked it.

Steelers had the #1 defense, #2 running attack, and three Offensive Lineman in the pro-bowl.

So Roethlisberger would be the good end of this scale. Sanchez would be the bad end.

I did a longer look at all the rookie QB's that made it to the playoffs. Jim Everett, Ben Roethlisberger, Mark Sanchez, and Russell Wilson are all the rookies to have a top 5 defense, top 5 running game, and multiple pro bowl Offensive Linemen. TJ Yates was one offensive lineman away from qualifying.

Of the fourteen rookie QB's that have made it to the playoffs...

10 have had top 10 defenses

9 have had top 10 rushing offenses

9 have had at least one pro bowl offensive lineman

To his credit, as much as it irks me, Andrew Luck is the only rookie to make it to the playoffs without at least one of those three things.

Congrats...I don't really care TOO much about the awards, but I hope that is Griffin's first of many accolades from an unbelievable rookie season.

He's won one, but is the AP the big/official awards that are handed out?

They all probably count to him. Every award he wins validates his hard work and dedication. I'm not blasting you or anything, but remember back to when you played high school sports...when you got your name in the paper or made some "area" team, you didn't really care about the source unless you were very, very good (I was not...).

I hear what you're saying but the winner of the AP rookie of the year is gonna be regarded as "THE" rookie of the year.

Cam Newton and Sam Bradford both won the PFW rookie of the year award.

Both went on to win the AP ROY.

Right, sorry. I see what you mean.

Crazy to think that Sam Bradford would only have been the 4th best rookie QB if he came out in 2012.

Yep...even crazier to think it wouldn't be a slam dunk that he was even 4th. He probably would have been, but both Tannehill and Weeden had an identical rookie record and very similar statistics this past year.

Sporting News just named RGIII rookie of the year.

So Pro Football Weekly and Sporting News believe in RGIII.
