Perhaps he does. I just don't see it as over the top as some people like to present.
When is that correct moment to make a compliment ? I don't see it as an advance, he might say it to every woman.

It shouldn't be that tough to find out. I'm sure jones has been interviewed by a woman before. And men too. Does he call them all gorgeous or not? Or did he simply pick this one time to do it?

Since this hasnt been in the news before I'm guessing it's the latter.

So again, how would any of you feel if some guy out of the blue closed with 'thanks handsome'?

To be clear, I don't think it was that big a deal. Tafoya didn't seem to care so whatever. But the amount of male indignation in this thread is a little disconcerting. It's not like the guy's being brought up on charges or anything. Considering that pretty much every woman posting in this thread said it would have bothered her, maybe we should just take like one step back for a second and listen?

I think I would have been momentarily baffled and, strangely, just a little flattered. It would have been a little weird because I'm not used to receiving compliments from anyone, let alone other men, but I think I would have shaken it off as a "whatever" moment and been just a tiny bit proud, somehow. Especially since he was leaving; there's no threat, there's no actual advance of any kind, it's just a parting nice-thing-to-say.

I've had no issue with 99% of the arguments here but when people start implying that giving someone a compliment automatically equals thinking they are some cute little girl in over her head with her job, that's ridiculous. I am 100% sure Jacoby Jones takes her seriously as a reporter. She's been doing it a long time. What would be undermining is if he didn't answer her questions seriously or if he gave joke answers.

I'd agree with that. Absolutely. I still think it was out of line. Again, not anything crazy. Not really offensive. Just inappropriate. Not a big deal.

That said, it's not lawsuit-worthy sexual harrassment, but unprofessional nonetheless.

I've been in several situations like that and it made me uncomfortable 100% of the time. I wasn't outraged (as I don't think anyone here is claiming), but it uncomfortable. No one should ever have to feel uncomfortable in their work setting.

Today, while everyone is watching football, count the number of actual news items these sideline reporters (all women, i believe) come up with.

..and now down to Erin in her skn tight leather pants to give us another re-hash on things we've been discussing for two hours on pre-game.


BTW, speaking of sideline reporters.. who the hell told Pam Oliver it would be a good idea to dye her hair purple? Thursday she looked like she was wearing a magenta hoodie.

I agree Bang...people who are working in TV (even sports) sign up for having their looks be a factor. It's laughable to me that people think a sideline reporter should not have to deal with people mentioning how they look at any point in time. If you spend time with a hair and makeup person, I think it's in bounds.

Women aren't sideline reporters because they want to be eye candy, they are sideline reporters because that's the closest they can get to in-game commentary.
