Default reflecting on a rivalry from a lifetime cowboys fan

It's that time again. I enjoy watching football as much as any time in my life. Really looking forward to tomorrow's game. What I can no longer do is bring myself to "hate" the Redskins. Maybe few of us never really truly hate a sports rival, but I think that for the most part you can appreciate the spirit in which I reference that word.

Too many things matter too much to get emotional about such a trivial thing. I even find myself admiring your quarterback. I don't even feel the strong disdain for your team that I do the Eagles. I find myself rooting for you guys when you played against them the last couple years.

I really have a harder time watching the Cowboys win with the horrible discipline they've shown the last couple weeks than I do seeing the Redskins having success. Despite your record I think you are having success. I'll probably feel worse about it when your record starts improving. It will, it's inevitable at this point.

The thing that's hardest about watching my team is thinking of the few guys like Witten, Ware, and Sean Lee that truly give it all. I hope rest of the team plays to their level tomorrow.

Sorry for rambling, I hope you lose, happy Thanksgiving.

Lol You'll find the hate in your heart again if we start beating you guys again and once both teams start actually getting good to the point where the season is on the line both times we play.

Nature of the league these days. With the rules (whether overprotective or not) leading to seemingly more personal fouls being called, the concussion issue, and the lack of discipline......yeah, the game is still enjoyable to watch, but I honestly can't say "as much as any time in my life."

This game is definitely meaningful because the winner will definitely be in the thick of it for the division lead, especially if the Giants lose. And the game in week 17 should have implications for at least one of the teams.

Dez Bryant will have the game of his life tomorrow. He owns DeAngelo Hall. I hope we can overcome it. I favor the Cowboys by at least 10 but if DeMarco Murray were playing I wouldn't give us a chance.

I will say this- If you guys don't beat us at your stadium in November, it's over for you. Winter is coming.

I hope so. The OP describes how I feel about the rivalry too. Maybe when the two teams are constantly battling for the division title or in the playoffs I can get hyped for "hate week" like everyone else.

The only reason I'm excited for tommorow is because this is the closest I've ever experience to a playoff type game between the two respected rivals.

As a Cowboys fan it always appears that Redskins fans are much more into this rivalry. It has felt too media driven and based on the team names, Cowboys and Indians for adults if you are old enough to remember playing that as a kid. My hated rivals depended on the decade. The mid 70's is when I first became a fan and the Steelers were the most hated team for me. Having to watch Lynn Swann's juggling catch over and over helped keep that going. The 80's brought us "The Catch", hatred of the 49ers and another replay to grind our teeth over. The 90's added the Packers and Brett Favre to hate but at least no decade defining replay so I guess that was an improvement. After that the Cowboys were never relevant so no new hated rival emerged. With Jerry as the GM we are going to be average for a long time.

Would love to see no injuries to either side and a close contest tomorrow. Of course a Cowboys win would make the day even better not because we are playing you but because a win is always nice on Turkey day. If I had to bet it would be on the Redskins to win as we pulled a few out we had no business of winning the last two weeks and we are due a down game. Should be fun to watch Romo and RG3 run up the score.

First time since 2005 that this game has been huge for both teams. If the Redskins win there is a chance that the Redskins have a shot at the division. It may make the last game of the season huge with the winner taking the division and the loser staying home. If Dallas wins, this opens up a strong possibility that we can play the spoiler in that last game. This is a rivalry game that finally after all these years means more to the NFL landscape as a whole. As a Redskins fan, this game reminds me of the 2005 game in Dallas.
A bad plan well executed may work. A good plan badly executed will always fail.

Well you'd probably understand the hate more if you were actually from Texas.

Oh, trust me... they all hate us. That's why I hate the Redskins back lol.

As of now, the priority list goes: NY, PHI, WAS.
In the near future, it will be: NY, WAS, PHI.

That still doesn't detract from his statement that Lee is an all-out player. Certainly has the talent to be an All-Pro. Very underrated.
