Like the way you think but we are not going to have that kind of luck this season. We have the start of a very very good team. In a year or two it could be the best Redskin team ever. I lived in Virginia from 1979 to 1999 and had 4 tickets on the 50 yard line behind the Redskin bench. I went to all the games. Riggo was the best back we ever had but RG3 may be the best QB in the NFL. With some 3rd and 4th round draft picks and a little help in Free Agency, look out. By the way, my wife is from Texas so it gets interesting around our house this time of year.

This great position for the playoffs is predicated on the Skins going on a great run for the rest of the season. Even if the Skins win out, which would be remarkable, we would still need pieces to fall into place for the team to get in.

Essentially hoping all the planets align is not great position for the playoffs but, hey, at least I CAN hope with a guy like Griff at QB.

I think we still have to win next week to say we have a legitmate chance for the playoffs. but if this team makes the playoffs, this is one of the greatest runs in redskins history

The formula is simple...try to win out or at the very least win the remaining division games. It helps that the Giants schedule looks tough, but we can't count on outside help now. I will be a Packers fan tonight for sure and if the G-Men lose, that Monday night game will be electric. It's amazing that we can even talk about this. Should be fun

Wildcard is definitely out. Zero chance Seattle and Chicago don't go at least 4-2 with thoswe schedules. If we lose to the giants we are done. Zero chance of overcoming a 3 game deficit(without the tie breaker its 3 because we lose a tie).

Bottom line is that the for us the superbowl is Monday night.

I don't know about great position, I think we're about two wins instead of losses from "great" but we're certainly not bad.

Basically, if the Giants lose, we control our fate. It's as simple as that. They lose, and if we win next week we hit 1st place in the East and the only way anyone can stop us is for us to lose.

Again, I'm not expecting a wild card out of the East. Too many other teams on pace for 10-6. If we end up 10-6, it means we won out, and probably won first place in the division. If we end up 9-7 or worse, it means we dropped one and won't be a wildcard.

Luckily, if the Giants lose the next two weeks, I could easily see 9-7 winning the division. We'd be 6-6, they'd be 6-6, and Boys get the Eagles, so they're probably 6-6 after next week. Giants have some tough games and could drop one or two, and Boys have to beat Cinci, Pitt, and NO, so I could see them dropping one or two. If that happens, 9-7 could win. Thing is, we HAVE to win next week against the Giants, so we might as well just watch that game and not worry too much about the others.

If the Skins win out, we only need one piece to fall into place: a Giants loss. Which, with the way they've been playing, isn't that big of a planet alignment.

Kleese, obviously you need to read the 'hall's gonna be sorry he didn't score that TD' thread. The wildcard slot is dead to us now that we are down 7pts from where we could have been. We are going to have to win the division now because of Halls 'me first' hijinks.

I'm as optimistic as anyone on ES, and I am thoroughly enjoying watching us play right now. But...I think people are underestimating how bad our defense is. If Meriweather had stayed healthy, I would've liked our chances a lot more.

Is it doable? Absolutely. Probable? I don't think so. What we're talking about here would be the most epic turnaround in the history of our franchise, and while that would be amazing, I think expecting that result could be misguided. Gibbs' comeback teams had good defenses. This team does not.

We are putting a lot of stock into a Packers win tonight. It seems like that pretty much needs to happen for us to have a legit shot.

No, but it needs to happen for us to have a legit shot at the division by next Monday.

For me this really is key. I will be ready to talk playoffs if we beat the Giants on Monday night.

I think people on here are deluded. The Skins defense is terrible. Even if they run the table on the NFC East (and I don't think they will), they will be quickly ushered out of the playoffs.

I want to see improvement on the defensive front so that we dont have so many holes to fill in the offseason. More than anything, I want to see signs that we can really compete next season.

Who cares if they lose in the playoffs? We want to see improvement and going to the playoffs this year would be huge for this franchise and team for the long term.
