I was wrong to use the term lazy or I used the term lazy incorrectly. GMOs are being banned around the world for a reason though.

I think you were right to use the term, you just forgot that laziness is the motivation behind most technological innovations. I'm not claiming that GMOs are necessarily at their end game quality but they are not inherently bad either. We're still in the infancy of their existence, they do hold a lot of promise for the future and are currently very important in terms of feeding a hugely over populated planet. Old school isn't gong to cut it.
We tend to learn about our mistakes from the results of those mistakes and then we work to correct them. We shouldn't be afraid of making those mistakes. Genetic diversity, or lack thereof and associated susceptibility to large scale crop failure, as well as taste, is the primary argument against GMOs where they are banned, not nutrition.[COLOR="Gold"]

I think the topic of feeding an overly populated planet should focus of more on urban farming, personal farming techniques and less on adding chemicals and poisons into foods.

That's fine for us first worlders, but how does that work for sub-Saharan Africa or southeast Asia? Short answer, genetically modified grain is hugely important to the daily survival of millions of people. Besides which GMOs don't add poison or chemicals. Just DNA that doesn't exist in the original plant. (if you were referring to Mac n Cheese, you might have a point!) :P
Must be due to living in a Ag-centric area that I have less of the Frankenstein fear of the potential impact of GMO derived food. Like I said it's not there yet in totality but it really is one of the only solutions for feeding the world in the face of potential catastrophes that might happen. We won't have time to let evolution do it's thing if the climate shifts too rapidly. Just as an example.

Monsanto doesn't add chemicals and poisons to their food products? Round up ready foods that you can't wash the pesticides off are fine?

That's not what Roundup Ready does. It changes an enzyme receptor (by using a similar receptor that is resistant in a type of algae) in the plant that makes it resistant to the the change in enzymes that Roundup uses to kill plants. That's similar to the mechanism that many drugs use within us. Roundup isn't nuclear warfare on weeds but biological. Fact is, as the Purple Nightshade in my back yard attests to, plants are perfectly capable of developing resistance on their own using very similar methods.
I am not a Monsanto fan by any means or a fan of industrial ag because of their business practices. Doesn't mean they don't have good ideas or valid research capabilities even if profit is their main motivator. Again, the end game might not be here but to dismiss the tech entirely is short sighted.

That's fine. I'll continue to go out of my way to keep it out of my system.

They do a lot of harm, without question, driving so many family farms out of business or holding them hostage to genetic materials that they can't avoid (cross pollination of neighboring crops) IS evil. One would be perfectly justified in avoiding their products for those reasons alone.
After reading this yesterday morning, what did I do? I had a turkey on rye sandwich and damn it was good. Hadn't tried rye in years. Gluten-free schmuten-free. Until I develop celiac that is.
