i repeat ... dude's a jerk with no heart and nobody on the eagles can stand him. haynesworth 2.0, minus anyone at all who will stick up for him.

I think he did play 3-4 OLB with Houston. Am I wrong?

I don't think he played that well in it though.

Yes, they rush majority of the time, but they still have other responsibilities, which proved my point. Babin can't play the run, nor can he play man/zone. If they want to bring him in here to just to play qb rush snaps, thats a waste of a roster spot and $$$. We have guys like Lorenzo and Jackson that are much more versatile.

the 2nd part of the article lends some agreement to your concern. His production was mediocre to bad as a rookie in his younger days. The thing is, his production doesn't seem any worse than we're getting right now...it might be presumptuous to say he's learned some subtle nuances of how to be more effective in the league now...but I think people are guarded for the wrong reasons. Fit is the only concern I can see...but I don't see how his production could actually be worse. Not my decision to make though, I just want the defense to catch a break, maybe Babin can be it? We'll see.

We need talent. There is potential this could help with a playoff run.

2.) I said mediocre at best. Really, he sucked. Babin sucked as a 3-4 linebacker. He got traded from Houston for a nobody safety from Seattle, then got cut from Seattle as a DE and got cut. He got claimed by Kansas City and sucked in Kansas City, then got claimed by Philly, and he sucked in Philly. He's had an 8 year career and the only time he hasn't sucked has been two seasons, and not he can't even get on the field over Derek Landri (who?).

A guy is what he is. Babin sucks. He's sucked every year but two in his career.

3.) The 49ers picked up 'Los on the cheap as a free agent on a one year "prove it" deal. And 'Los, for all intents and purposes, is playing a lot more like he was in Washington this year then his Pro Bowl season 2011; okay, above average but not a playmaker and he drops interceptions.

You do not build a football team by scraping the bottom of the barrel everytime some jerk like Babin gets cut. Teams aren't in the business of letting good players or players who are worth the money they pay go.

And this is all a moot point because there's a bunch of 4-3 teams ahead of us in the waiver priority that will probably claim him before we get the chance.
    1) we're not gonna get him on waivers, people won't want his contract, but if there was mutual interest I'd be all for a cheaper signing.
    2) If he sucks I'd like to know what you think of our current DL/LB core.
3)I think you're a little bitter seeing another guy thrive after he left town. He's still a better secondary player then anyone on our roster. Point is, management should be able to find ways to squeeze talent every now and then. We can't rely on the draft as much and our FA window is shut for another year so we need to look for talent where its available. Relative to our defensive roster...he still has talent. But if you're right and some other 4-3 team claims him, no biggie.

Babin has 3-4 experience and has played in the division. It'd be worth a gamble to nick him.

Actually you are right - he played OLB in their 3-4 in his rookie year, I had forgotten that. But they switched to the 4-3 in his second year (the year they drafted Mario Williams) and he switched to DE. `so he has 1 year (I think) of playing as an OLB in a 3-4 but has played DE in a 4-3 since then.

At best for us he would be a situational pass rusher playing some DE when we go to 4 down lineman or stand up rush end when we go to our nickle or dime packages. He will want to go to a 4-3 team and thats who would get the best (if there is any left) value from him. Not us.

We should sign him the week of the Eagles game in order to decipher some intel about their defense. Oh wait. We don't need to because their defense blows and we kicked their ass two weeks ago.

Just say no to Justin Beiber, I mean Justin Babin, I mean Jason Babin.

Subject to change if they think he could fit in the 3-4.

    Ah, my mistake.

Didn't realize Houston had played a 3-4 prior to their current Defense under Wade Phillips.

    Still, no thanks.

First off, I want to pass on Babin. He doesn't fit our 3-4 scheme and the cap hit is too much for 5 games. (4 if time is required learn the PB)

Babin earned the reputation as a quitter after the Fecals 4th straight loss, this is what he had to say:

The man did'nt quit, he just did'nt want to play for those fans and who could blame him.
