“I thought more people would have had” problems with the name, said Adam Clymer, political director of the survey, which questioned more than 65,000 Americans of all races and ethnic groups between Oct. 7, 2003, and Sept. 20, 2004"
Yes let's ask a bunch of African Americans and Cuban Americans if they are offended by a derogatory term meant to verbally attack American Indians.

Learn to read, champ:
"A total of 768 persons from all 48 continental states interviewed in the Annenberg election survey identified themselves as Indians or Native Americans, slightly more than 1 percent of the survey sample and about the same percentage of Indians as counted in the census."

If this is true, why do many Native American High Schools use this mascot? Apparently they think this "derogatory" word is okay for their kids to wear on their uniforms. Why are you so worried about the name anyways? Are you Native American? And even at that, do you really think the word is being used in a derogatory way by this team? I think .. no, I guarantee... it's not.
haha..Giants are talking what? They have done nothing but heap praise on RG3 all week. Cruz called you guys a good team. Wahtever you need to do to get ready for the game I guess.

We'll see..could happen. Truthfully this is a much bigger game for Washington than it is for the Giants..Winner of the NFC East is locked into the 3rd or 4th spot pretty much. If the Giants lose they still lead the division. Coughlin is trying to fire them up because he KNOWS this is the type of game the Giants lose.
Here is the link to the actual press release for the research done by Annenberg:

They might not be talking "mad ****," but I'm surprised not many people are dissecting this supposed "praise" for what it really is--let me clue you in: it's passive aggressive, reverse psychology BS.
The amount of RG3 ass kissing they've been doing is over-the-top for an opponent, no matter how good the player is, and you can clearly tell that most of the praise is tongue-in-cheek, sarcastic, and intentionally hyperbolic. How about Tuck saying he wants to see RG3 and Vick race? GTFO. I don't think it's possible for your team to go a week without attempting to play mind games with the opponent through the media. It's pathetic, esp. for an organization with two titles in five years.

For me, its more the issue of the history attached to the name and less the name itself. While there have been polls that might illustrate the indifference shown by a handful of Native Americans, we have to remind ourselves that the idea of how the name arose (do the research) is horrific, and the majority of Native Americans, who undeniably feel disparaged and horrified that we continue to carry it as our team name, obviously feel incredibly disrespected and are reminded of a brutal end to a place in which they lived in peace that they can now scarcely call their own.

If your referring to 'scalping', then you've done zero research.

I respect your view point but I don't agree. I think they are truly amazed by the guy. Truthfully we all are. What was wrong with what Tuck said? Basically Tuck always felt Vick was the fastest player on the field. now he sees someone that rivals him. I don't think its tongue-in-cheek at all.

Lets see, Cruz went out of his way to say we are not a contender, Tuck or Umeniora (sp?) said (paraphrasing) our offense is nothing with RGIII, talking about our qb getting beaten up...
Like someone else said, passive-aggressive. And that's only what the players are saying to the press. Go onto the Giants message boards.
We don't need their advice. I don't give a damn what Cruz thinks about our team's competitiveness. He speaks like someone who is talking about a subordinate, it was a very patronizing statement. I for one want us to shove that 'contender' statement up his salsa-dancing ass.
To the Vagiants trolls, I mean your team no good will at all. I want to see coughlin's head explode after a sound ass-whipping. Like the dejected Parcells after that 35-7 game in 2005, or watching the crap-eating grin wiped off of Romo's face last week. Enjoy your last few weeks of NFC East dominance.
If only we had a good defense. Because I have a feeling the offense (RGIII, Morris, AND everyone else) is going to be taking many trips to the endzone. The only thing is, it is for naught if Haslett can't call a decent game. We just need two or three stops.
I call BS on the "they are truly amazed" by the guy, since it's obvious by now that he's great and their praise is over-the-top from an opponent. Tuck acting like a fan boy or school kid with a crush, Osi calling him "Sir," etc. It's ridiculous and clearly intended to get inside his head.

I'm thankful the RG3 Redskins will be professional and even-keeled in the coming years. The Redskins will take after their leader, a guy who approaches each week like a mature professional, a guy who won't run his mouth constantly in the press. The Giants are drama queens.

"Redskins" is not an offensive word. American Indians don't think so. We don't think so. Only a small bunch of easily offended, PC types think so.
Folks like you say the team needs to get into the 21st century. Let me tell you what the word "REDSKINS" means in the 21century......
It means 'football'.
When someone hears the name "Redskins", they don't think about American Indians or the Old West or anything like that. They think football. They think RG3 and MIke Shanahan. Older fans think of Jurgensen, George Allen, John Riggins, the Hogs, Joe Gibbs and 3 Super Bowl trophies.
They think of our rivalry with Dallas, fond memories, and a great long standing tradition.
THAT is what the word "REDSKINS" means to me and most all around here in the 21st century.
I feel bad for you that you can't grasp that.
HAIL TO THE REDSKINS!!!!
