Thread: Colin Cowherd: RG3 can't hold a candle to Andrew Luck

Why do most people ignore the fact that Luck has a ****ing easy, creampuff schedule? He's played a dreadful jacksonville with Gabbert twice (and lost once), tennessee, the jets (who destroyed the colts), cleveland, minnesota, buffalo, 4-8 detroit. He barely wins against all these terrible teams too.
The pats murdered the colts 59-24, the bears killed the colts 41-21. The only notable win he has was against a banged up and slow starting green bay. The Colts have played NOBODY. The NFL set them up with a ridiculously easy schedule. The most winning rookie qb stuff is bs. Luck would be 4-8 with the Redskins schedule, no way he could win while leading the nfl in turnovers without that powderpuff schedule. The Redskins and RG3 would be 10-2 with that easy schedule.

RG3 could do everything Luck is doing but Luck couldn't do what RG3 is doing. if it was RG3 with 17TD 16INT and Luck with RG3s stats no one would be arguing RG3 was way better

But to make a definitive statement and say that not only is Andrew Luck definitely the better player but that RG3 can't even hold a candle to him is complete idiocy. I realize the definitive statement is going to get him more attention but it's also going to seriously impact your credibility/integrity as a "reporter." I'm well aware that Cowherd has very little of that to begin with, but still...
He's not a reporter. He's a radio and tv personality. One who I believe knows more about college football, than pro, but that's beside the point. Is he slanted against the 'Skins? Maybe. But at the end of the day, he is charged with driving ratings and his definitive statements seem to do just that. regardless if he actually believes them...

I could have sworn that I heard him one day praising Griffin on being an amazing rookie. I was shocked but blew it off just like I will this.

I don't know why you all flip out over this dude. Heck he's just making money on getting everyone all pissy. Shoot it's the easiest dollar anyone ever made and people still fall for it.

You say "oh but he beat the packers" He got demolished by the bears and absolutely destroyed vs the pats. the packers started slow this year and Luck has only had 3 difficult games out of 12 and got destroyed in 2 of them. Luck actually has a decent defense and a HOF #1 receiver

Adam Schein is getting in on it now, saying he is voting for Luck...not as ROY...as league MVP (and yes he does have one of the 50 official votes). He basically just repeats the stuff that most of the Luck aficionados do and ignores the negatives. Reading some of the comments though...wow it is amazing how completely ignorant some people are about RG3, the way this offense works, and the way FOOTBALL works, letalone even watched any of his games by the sound of it. Here is the article:

    http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap100...anapolis-colts

And here are some choice reader comments after it about RG3:

Shanahan is the MVP for the Redskins. He built a good Oline, with a good running back and he drafted a RUNNING QB in RG3. Until Griffin graduates to reading defenses and throwing to 3rd and 4th options, he will never get MVP consideration. Luck, Manning or Brady should win it. Luck will break every major rookie record this year and it will remain unbroken for at least a decade. What he is doing is unprecedented. Enjoy him while you can football fans.

RG3 is doing better in a conservative offense because it isnt all on him. Talent wise Redskins have way more on defense

Hey Skins fans, RG3 is a system QB! Every last one of RG3's passing tds this year and I mean every one of them has been to a wide open WR with no one within 10 feet of them. RG3 is good in that system but if he were working with what Luck is working with his season would be mediocre at best.

okay so what andrew luck has quite a bit of interceptions? all rookies make mistakes the reason rg3 doesn't have that many is cuz all he likes to do is run the ball. andrew is number 4 in the league with passing yards nearly breaking cam newtons record after a few more games in almost every game this year he has thrown 300+ yards he is a great qb and he makes mistakes.... all rookies do, rg3 wasn't that great against the giants last night now was he?

Lmao. We will see when they get pimped by the Texans twice in the next 4 weeks. Although the last weeks game my be meaningless for the Texans.

That's a pretty absurd statement from the Cow (if anything, I'd say even), so I'm guessing he's just playing the "Listen to me as I continue to be controversial" angle with the bigger market. I'm sure that if we had Luck and Indy had RGIII, he would switch that around. He's just ridiculous most times (especially with us) that it's too obvious.
Nailed it. I'd say the same for Schien's comments as well. shock jocks looking for attention from bigger markets. All the same, it's still neck and neck between RGIII and Luck IMO.

You know what the worst part of this **** is? Luck has one quality win all year, against Green Bay. The same Green Bay team that was just demolished by the Giants who we should be 2-0 against if it wasn't for a last minute 80 yard td pass. The Colts have 8 wins against teams who are a combined 38-58 (.396). We have 6 wins against teams who are a combined 33-39(.458). Of our 6 losses, only ONE was by more than a td. Of Indy's 4 losses, 3 were by 20 points or more. I expect the Colts to get throttled by the Texans in 2 of the last 3 weeks and the media can finally start talking about how baby soft Indy's schedule has been instead of how amazing 8 wins is for that team.

Honestly, that doesn't bother me. What bugs me is the claim that we are vastly more talented. The Colts are two years removed from being a Superbowl contender. Our best receiver, who hasn't played the majority of the year is a guy they rejected.

The talent disparity thing is just something I don't buy... especially, when you look at what we are fielding on defense and the oline (though the oline is one of those strange examples of when the sum is much greater than the parts)

That's because Luck is holding the candle.

Other than engaging in debate, do any of you guys really care if Luck edges out Griffin for this award? Ideally, I'd like Griffin to get it but Luck is an exceptional rookie who is having a nice year too. In the end, it might even fuel Griffin more if he doesn't win. I'm sure the career is what he's worried about.
"Washington strolled to the NFC championship, outscoring their two playoff opponents by a combined total of 48 points. Their domination was more than impressive, it was historic. The 1991 Redskins boasted the largest average margin of victory among all Super Bowl champions."
