Well, you said this thread was dormant until people saw what Cam did and decided to "go ham" in this thread. Whatever that means. Since it was me who brought it up, it seems to me like you're trying to call me and my motivations out.

Comparing Tebow and Cam is like comparing an apple to an orange. Tebow has no history of being egotistical or a bad teammate. We've all seen Cam put his ego on display. From his Combine quote, his Super Man pose no matter what the situation, his poor press conferences, and now his petulant behavior on the football field.

I'm not a Tebow fan at all, In fact I've said in the past that he can't play QB and I think his golly gee persona is a put on. But I have never seen anything from Tebow to suggest that he's an egomaniac or a bad teammate. This report about him is the first. Cam's been called out before for his behavior, it's a pattern with Cam and an isolated incident with Tebow. That's the difference. Not what you and a couple of others are insinuating.

this thread was dormant until Cam's episode yesterday. Its the truth. My point was more about Cam's play the last 6 games where he has looked like one of the best QBs in the NFL, but most decided to ignore it.

you mean like fanning the flames for the fans to boo Kyle Orton last season by encouraging those that wanted Tebow to start in the summer of 2011? Or how he jumped Brady Quinn? Or Tebow leaking that he is going to Jacksonville next year during the middle of this season? Or Tebow asking out of Wildcat plays yesterday and quitting on his Jets teammates? Yeah, it is apples and oranges because Cam has never done stuff like that. Not even in the same world. Cool, Cam does a Superman celebration, much worse than quitting on your teammates.

there has been actions the last year and most have ignored it because people see this "golly gee" media persona.

Tebow really believes that he should start over Greg McElroy despite McElroy being better than him in practice, and a lot of people are fine with that because its Tebow.

Oh you want people to praise him for doing his job right? You want a "Cam is doing super awesome and we should all cheer him on" thread here ?

Man, now you're just babbling nonsense. Tebow never asked for people to boo Orton. He didn't make the decision to have him start over Quinn. Nobody said anything about Tebow leaking the Jacksonville thing. That could have come from a variety of sources and could just be pure speculation at this point.

Cam has done things we've all seen. Huge difference and like I said, the bumping the official thing and kicking the defender thing is just a part of a larger pattern of behavior that fits right in with the Pro Bowl accusations.

Then you go into the isolated incident, which I never denied, but nobody even knows if it's true of if it came from him.

So yeah, Seeing Cam do all the stuff he did for myself, coupled with the stuff I've heard he did is comparing apples to oranges.

there has been actions the last year and most have ignored it because people see this "golly gee" media persona.

The actions haven't been ignored, you're just trying to pin stuff on Tebow that he had no control over. And i'm pretty sure you haven't been at the Jets practice to see if he's been better, worse or even been given a shot compete with McElroy. Your opinion about who is better has no bearing on the decisions the Jets make.

This stuff is hilarious. I will come right out and say it. I absolutely despise everything about Cam Newton. The way he plays, his stupid showboating, his whole demeanor, and im not sure what some of you guys are hinting at in this thread but i feel like some are trying to make it about race, which is way off point for me anyway. It has nothing to do with the color of his skin, i just cant stand the dude. Living near charlotte, its always Cam this Cam that, and it drives me bonkers. He's an immature crybaby who better find a way to grow up fast, cause there are even alot of Panthers fans i know who are really getting sick of his act.

Thank you for saying what I wanted to say (everything but the living near charlotte and hearing about him all the time).

    Asiatic,

I believe there is racism in sports. I believe most of it is very subtle and is in the undertones (most of the time) of the way people speak about black athletes as opposed to white athletes. However, to imply that because people defend Tebow (a guy who is widely regarded as an incredible all-around person) for getting fed up with a ****ty coach and organization one time, and not Cam (who repeatedly shows his ego and immaturity) when he brings b.s. on himself are racist, well, you've put your blinders on.

It comes down to personality, not race. Allow me to put this in perspective for you. Tebow is an RG3 that can't play, Cam is a Ryan Leaf that can play. Take note of the race-reversal.

I bet all those black DL and LBers that were targeting Cam in the Pro Bowl and not Drew Brees are racist too... they must be some cornball brothers.

Please keep your Tebow agenda in the Tebow thread, and leave the racism insinuations for when they're actually warranted.

Oh whatever...like you never had an intense animosity for player outside of your teams divison????

No matter how you slice it, Cam is a jerk. You know who else is? Jay Cutler. Both are pentulant *******s and every week they do something on and off the field that confirms this.

I hope the League crushes him for his disgusting display last week.

Agreed. The guy has shown himself to be a no class first degree assclown.
He's all about him, and his stupid me, me me attitude. It makes me glad to know that he will NEVER win a super bowl, he just doesn't have the mindset to get it done.
Barry Cofield is LEGIT... no more nonsense about we need a "real" NT... HE IS THE REAL DEAL!!!! He goes to the Pro Bowl this year, book it!!!

How do you know he'll never win a Super Bowl? LOL. C'mon now.

of all the ridiculousness in this line, this is the most over the top.

And what I have seen from Tebow, this guy is as big of an ego-trip as Cam, RG3, and other good starting QBs. The difference between those others and Tebow is that they can play the position whereas tebow cannot.

And if you dont see the racial undertones in all the perks and advantageous coverage Tebow gets vs other Qbs an players, then I feel for you. Tebow cannot throw a football with any type of consistency to be a starting QB and yet he is allowed to make demands and is allowed to stink in practice yet think he should start at QB.

Tebow is a terrible QB yet its okay for him to be a major media figure. He has not earned a damn thing in the NFL, and yet Cam Newton is the guy you guys direct your ire at, lol. Its hilarious.

And comparing Tebow to RG3 is absurd, simply absurd.

ok so I don't KNOW for sure
but i'd be willing to put money on it that he won't.

Name a diva of his magnitude who ever put a team on his back and won a sb?
I bet the odds are better he'd have a Jamarcus/Leaf meltdown rather than win a SB ring.

From a personality standpoint what's so absurd. A guy who says and does the right things? And genuinely means them?

Tebow gets coverage because last year he was the single most polarizing player in professional sports. You either hated him or loved him. What it has evolved into, however is a three ring circus style freak show. You ever known the media to lay off a slow-motion car wreck? They're gonna show whatever people watch, and apparently a lot of people wanted to watch the Jets fail this season (I was one of those people, but that had more to do with their boneheaded management). Did I change the channel every time ESPN cut to a Jets story? You bet your ass I did. Do I care for Tim Tebow considerably less than I did last year because of it? You better believe it.

I don't need you "feeling for me" either. Most of us that give Tebow a pass strictly give it to him because of stories that I'm about to link not because of how white he is... (And if you can somehow turn this into Tebow having an egotrip as big as Cam, than I simply feel for you)

    http://www.tampabay.com/sports/colle...cle1062318.ece

(and that was a quick, very lazy google search)

I'll also add that as a Master's of Sport Management student at FSU I've heard on pretty good authority from a classmate that went to South Alabama and interned at IMG, and a classmate that went to Auburn and interned with the United Way (and was personally assigned to write up what Cam was doing with the UW) that he is exactly as advertised, a POS, prima donna, egotistic, clown.

But please continue to tell me how I should hate a guy who tries his best to live a good life and help others, as much as somebody who can't even garner the respect of his professional football brethren.

He's 23...he's got a LONG way to go in his career. Even mentioning him with the likes of Jamarcus Russell and Ryan Leaf is absurd.

There are a lot of "me-first" or guys with questionable character who have won rings. Deion and Big Ben come to mind.

Cam Newton's skill set is through the roof. Again, he's ONLY 23. He should mature as time goes on. I just don't understand why people are writing him off this early. There is a lot of bias towards the guy without even considering what he brings to the field every Sunday. There's a reason why people lump him with Luck and RGIII as QBs who can carry a team to a potential championship.

As the Panthers as a TEAM get better, so will Newton. They'll be a force in the NFCS in no time.

So you give Tebow a pass because of his charitable stuff, yet I bet you didnt bother doing one for Cam Newton

I'll help you with a lazy google search

But I get it, Tebow is the ONLY charitable athlete that should get credit for being charitable.

good for you, your friend, and myself to agree on this (since that is what I have always said )

But if you cant see that Tebow is the same way, then are deluded.
