Thread: High ticketmaster resale

  1. #1

    Default High ticketmaster resale

I've usually sold unused tix here or Craigslist. But since I've been out of town, I posted my Giants and Ravens tix on NFL ticketmaster exchange. I was able to get double the face value for them pretty easily nd within a few days of posting.

Do u guys think this is because of their current win streak or has the resale always been this high? I even saw limited view seats posting for $200+

its because the ravens are from maryland. You have twice the amount of people buying them, and especially high number of college kids returning that want to go.

    It's simple:

It's simple economics. If the demand is from both home and visiting fans, the ticket prices will drive up. If both teams are good, more fans want to go to the games.

Your highest selling tix every year are division games, but then when you have either Carolina or the Ravens, you have teams within driving distance and willing to pay.

I am responsible for the recent upsurge of the Redskins and their ticket prices. I invested in Club Seats a few years ago because I was a sucker for their promotion of how cheap they were compared to the usual rip-off. Even though I don't live local, I figured I could go to a few games whenever I visit family in Baltimore, and resell the rest. Figured even if I break even or lose a little, at least I'm investing in my team. My 3-year contract spanned 3 of the worst years in franchise history and I took a bath on some of the tickets, so I decided I'd had enough and did not renew the Club or take the 400-level season tickets they were offering me this season. At 3-6 it seemed I had made the right decision, but clearly my reverse-jinx is now taking effect. So you can all thank me and pray I never buy tickets again!

These are the highest regular season ticket prices I've seen since 2005.

The single game buyers will have to pay more than STHs this Decemeber. IMO prices this week are still a far cry cheaper than paying full price for meaningless games in August and numerous Decembers past.

When they get sold through ticket exchange, ticketmaster sends them an ETicket. I don't handle any part of the transaction. So Im not sure, and honestly don't really care.

I tried to sell giants tickets here. People would say they would buy it then back out several times. I couldn't get anyone to commit here till I dropped the price to less than face. By then it sold on TM at a higher price.

Have to agree with drjiveturkey here. On the rare occasions I have had to sell my tickets it is the Redskins fans that email or PM me say "Cut me a deal, man! I'm a huge Skins fan but I just don't want to pay face value!"

The vast majority of the time it is only the opposing fans who are willing to pay face value or a fair price for tickets. I've always had trouble understanding this phenomenon considering the DC metro area has one of the highest per capita income rates in the country.

My guess is a lot of local fans are aware of the depressed resale value of tickets over the past 6 years, and most have probably gotten nice deals before. Out of town fans aren't as familiar with the market, so they figure that if they decide to go to the game, they'll have to pay face value with few questions asked.

And yes, it does get annoying when Skins fans use their fan card ("I've loved the Skins for 30 years!" "I'm outta work and wanna take my kid to a game!") as an excuse to make ridiculous lowball offers, to the point of being insulting.

Called the Redskins ticket office last week to check prices on 2 extra club tickets for the Ravens game. Zone B section 305. They said they had several available but had to be sold at full market value of $429 a piece. Said Ravens and Cowboys tickets were the highest priced tickets this year. Yikes! Politely thanked him and got 2 off stubhub much much cheaper.

What I don't understand is how people get away with selling tickets for more than face value on craigslist/ticketmaster or what. I thought the season ticket rules talk about no scalping, etc.? In any event, when I sell a ticket it's for face value. Period. perhaps adding a couple dollars for postage or paypal fees if applicable. Just my 2 cents
