I think you guys are giving him too much credit.

I don't see anything from this year that suggests future NFL star. It's one thing to make bad reads, and there are a lot of bad reads in that sequence of gifs. Rookies make bad reads. RGIII has left 3 or 4 touchdowns on the field this year just off the top of my head (even last game, he had Moss wide open on a scramble and RGIII didn't see him) But Luck is just flat out inaccurate at times. He actually hits his own guy in the HELMET for one of his INTs. In another, he makes a decent read but underthrows it Rex Grossman style. Where's the arm strength he was supposed to have? And this isn't inaccuracy under pressure, he drops back, steps into a clean pocket (when does RGIII ever have a clean pocket for a 7 step drop?) and throws a duck. And I go "This is the QB phenom we've been waiting 2 years for?" Other throws, he's clearly forcing it to his first read, usually Wayne. And I was someone who bought into the Luck hype until I started watching him more and evaluating him in context.

I think, to be fair to Luck, a lot of it is being coached by Bruce Arians, one of the most overrated offensive minds in the game. His scheme was built around having an athletic strong-armed QB who buys time with his legs and chucks it to his speedy athletic recievers downfield. All you have to do to stop that offense is to play 2 deep shell and blitz because Arians will rarely scheme up pass plays that attack down the middle of the field. He has really no clue how to scheme WRs open. The good news is that if you don't get pressure, the WRs eventually do come open so Luck can rack up passing yards against prevent.

And really, Luck has Cam Newton measurables in both speed and weight. I'd at least have zone read and pistol in the playbook, but then, Arians is not that creative.

I think Luck would be at least decent here, especially since you can run a lot of zone read with him - not like we do with RGIII obviously, but Kyle Shanahan actually knows how to get WRs open, and his size and speed would make him a threat. And RGIII would be decent there seeing he's faster and more athletic, and their OL is better so he can be more successful being asked to run that "scheme". But I don't think that changes the fact that there is a vast gulf between the two QBs in skill level.

Luck isn't even the 2nd best rookie QB this year, and he would have been the 3rd best rookie QB last year. His production is more like Flacco or Bradford in their rookie year than anything.

Not sure if watching Andrew Luck

    Or Rex Grossman.

Threads like this are what make Homer fans look stupid....Only put up the bad ....dont show the good....

The Colts are 8 and 4 and Luck is big reason why!!! Does he make some mistakes yes...but to say at this point he is not going to be great is just retarted .....

It would not surprise me to see a Colts Vs Skins superbowl in a few years.. if the skins can get the defense worked out.

    Just saying.....

That's such a great point, man. Hints at some of the inherent underlying racism involved here. Luck's throwing a bunch of bone-headed interceptions but everyone gives him a pass because they're winning. If they were 4-8 would he be compared with Ryan Leaf? Probably not.

Reminds me a lot of Romo.

Except Romo plays a tougher schedule every year.

Most of us are saying that he WILL be great but isn't NOW. Most of us are saying he's good now, not great. Statistically i just don't see how he's even been close to great. But to your point that Luck's greatness is slam dunk and you question anyone's intelligence who believes otherwise -- IMO you are taking it too far. He "likely" will be great -- sure. Love his skill set, so he's set up for a bright future IMO. But yeah, great quarterbacks are at the top of the league not around the bottom of the league in major stats like QB ratings, interceptions, interception/TD ratio, completion percentage. Can you picture Brady with a low 70 Qb rating, 55% completion rating, 1:1 TD/QB ratio and leading the league in the interceptions -- of course not. It would be beyond silly. people would be saying Brady is losing it and is on the decline, big time. So what most of us are saying here is Luck's numbers are far from great NOW. Will he likely become great -- yeah I think so.

LMAO.. Never said he would not be good or great so reading is your friend.

Colts fans and some media say he only throws pics because he has to throw the ball down field...

That is why the gifs were made specifically for that argument. They were not made to prove he sucks, that would be foolish.

I do think if Luck was a Redskins throwing pics like that ES would be in full meltdown mode. He can win turning the ball over vs a weak schedule but the results would be different vs teams the skins have played.

Cots Fans and other Luck Fans keep pointing out that Peyton Manning threw a lot of interceptions in his rookie year also. I guess Luck could turn out like Peyton, but I dont know/think as much of Peyton's interceptions were from Plainly inaccurate throws as much as some of Luck's interceptions have been. I would think his case was more as a result of trying to fit the ball into too tight of a window. I am not exactly sure about this. Their stats do look similar, but Manning did not win and was never the favorite to win ROY with those stats though he had a worse record than Luck.

Oh boy ...yea right... there it is in black and white with a thread that says Luck's greatness in Gifs with them showing his interceptions and not the game winning drives. Putting down his stats while in his rookie year saying i didnt read a thing.. Then get bent out of shape when someone calls you out on it ...point a finger back and say thats not what I'm talking about....Never fails or get old does it.

What exactly are you trying to say with a thread like this????Odds are he is just going to be medicore ??? Or a Bust??? Sounds like it to me.

I think LL is saying exactly what he said...its a call out to all of those that say Lucks INTs are simply due to him taking chances and throwing downfield. The gifs definitely say otherwise....

Exactly.. The justification for the interceptions isn't accurate so pointing that out. I also made these more Redskins fans to have some visual evidence when they are debating. Have seen a lot of skins fans getting roasted in Colts boards.

Well there is a Colt fan who doesn't like Luck's INT either.
    http://forums.colts.com/index.php?/t...or-lucks-ints/

I think the winning record of the Colts has put blinders on these so called experts. They are comparing the record from last year to what it is this year. And the better record this year is all because of Luck. All other stats are meaning less to them. It really is sad how they think.

Later they will be going, Peyton who? But still Andrew Luck will be the face of the franchise of the Colts for many more years to come!

I haven't really watched Luck play too much but I did check out the gifs in the OP's link. Do most of Luck's passes look like a duck shot out of the sky?
