If the FA QB cupboard is bare and this years draft class is shallow, his value may increase, but then again, our need FOR him would also increase. IMO we need to keep him until we have someone behind him (and Rex isn't it)

you are over valuing Cousins a lot.
there is not 1 team that has a late 1st round pick that is going to need a QB so bad they will TRADE a first round pick on one. He doesn't have that much value to the Skins, let alone other teams.
how many teams are there exactly that need a QB? I'm thinking 3, MAYBE 4. How many teams have traded a first round pick for a QB during the off season? None of those is Kirk a sure upgrade. I know Carson Palmer was able to garner a 1st round pick from a team that lost their starting QB during the season and were trying to make a playoff push, but that was super desperate actions by a mismanaged team, but how often do first round picks get thrown around in this league for unproven commodities? Let us not forget that Carson Palmer is a decent QB who can make all the throws and is proven.
this years QB draft class isn't all that bad. Geno Smith will be compared to RG3, even though his stock has dropped a lot since his first 5 games. A lot of people think Matt Barkley is the best USC QB to come out in a long time. Landry Jones is Landry Jones. Aaron Murray might declare. I'm sure someone will gamble on Robinson, Colin Klein, etc with late round picks then trade a 1st or 2nd for freaking Cousins.

He had that nice pass vs. Atlanta, but then threw horrible afterwards. Worth? Not much in terms of draft picks, but I'm sure his parents would argue at least 2 first rounders

Let alone deal for a back QB who hasn't proved anything nor been very productive.
Being a Redskins fan prepares you for life.
Vinny Cerrato believes he gave Jim Zorn a roster that can make the playoffs. A playoff kicker doesn't miss that kick. A playoff safety doesn't bite multiple times by a double move in the same game.Originally Posted by suze109

Why are people so infatuated with trading our good players for what may or may not be a better player.
Who is supposed to back RG3 up next season or do you think we should just rid ourselves of all back-ups (because RG3 is superman incarnate) & if something goes terribly wrong, we can bring Randle El back.
good grief.
Maybe a 4th round pick or something at the most. A couple of impressive pre-seasons and garbage time performances and maybe someday he could be worth a 2nd. He's worth holding onto either for trade value or simply to groom a solid back-up.
He's not getting traded! If RG goes down, we need an accurate QB to step in, and we have one in him, He is very accurate and as we seen he stepped in against the undefeated Falcons and torched them on a long TD pass to Moss. It's a stupid idea to sacrifice a promising back up QB, STUPID! Our back up QB took us to the Super Bowl in 1987 and broke about every record while destroying the heavily favored Broncos.
The Patriots back up QB came in and took them to 5 Super Bowls now.Besides I don't think I have the patients to watch Rex throw 1 more INT or fumble 1 more time. I am so over him and never want to see him try to lead this team again,

I knew I shouldn't have clicked on this thread.
But for ****s and giggles, I'll play your silly game.
Look at it this way; you'd rather trade a rookie QB away and hold your breath that RGIII doesn't get leveled, otherwise its Rex Grossman? Seriously? Rex 'I bet I can throw more pics than Tony Romo' Grossman?
No, Cousins has alot more promise than Rex; yea, when we all watch RGIII go ape-**** on defenses, then Cousins comes in and doesn't do the same, people are ready to trade him for a wind-up hamster. Cousins is moldable, Rex is just mold...
This is from rotoworld:
So I'd say he's worth $2,572,688 over a four year period.5/31/2012: Signed a four-year, $2,572,688 contract. The deal included a $472,688 signing bonus. 2012: $390,000, 2013: $480,000, 2014: $570,000, 2015: $660,000, 2016: Free Agent
so we wasted a 4th pick on a backup player who we hope to get a better return years later. Thats seems foolish and still idiotic to this day
Well said, KDawg, I think the math adds up, lol!! I'd sure bet he's learning a helluva lot, and wouldn't be surprised about anything good or bad. Shoot, he's backing up the HEISMAN TROPHY WINNER!! Head is outta the clouds now, he knows what he's doing,(she says)
hes worth backing up griffin next year
