A. Slow down. It's one game.
B. If he is as good as he looked, we need to hold onto him for a while. RGIII is the kind of QB who is going to miss games. It's inevitable. Having a good backup is an absolute necessity.

I don`t know if this has been mentioned , If so sorry. I don`t even know how this would work but just a idea I had. Percy Harvin is in the last year of his contract and there were reports earlier that he wants out. Harvin would be a PERFECT fit in this offence with his YAC ability. Minny needs a QB and Cousins is building some value. Another thing the Vikes backup is Joe Webb who would also be a perfect backup to Rg3. And he as well would fit nicely with us. A Cousins + picks/players for Harvin and Webb , looks good on paper. Again I don`t know what we could or would need to add with cousins if anything to make this happen.........
Garcon , Hank with Harvin in the slot is just scaryyy good. Just think how explosive our offence would be.

I'm not sure what his value is right now, but its certainly higher than the 4th round pick we used on him. If you're Bruce Allen, you have to field offers on him before his rookie deal is up. Legit QB prospects are not going to resign with a team where they know they'll continue to be a back up. People are saying that he's better than Rex Grossman, which is true, but its not a reason to hang on to Cousins regardless of the circumstances. Rex is about average for a backup QB. He can win you games.
This team's defense and OL needs help. We have a serious lack of resources over the next two seasons in terms of draft picks and cap space to improve either unit. If you have a chance to improve that by moving a player 1. may or may not actually see the field and 2. is a marginal upgrade over the #3 player on the depth chart (Rex), then you have to do it. I'd love to field some offers like Philly got from AZ for Kevin Kolb.

Love Kirk. But if we get a good price (i.e. something like a 2 this year and a 3 next year) then you do it. And the reason you make that move is Kyle Shannahan's Offense. While most NFL teams are looking for a Kirk Cousins the Redskins can go after another zone-read QB who can also pass. Those are a dime a dozen among most of your Major College programs now. The zone read isn't going anywhere in college anytime soon. And in the NFL the only limiation is your QB getting hurt. If you back him up (RG III) with someone with similar skill sets (albeit probably not as much speed) then you can sustain this type of attack in the NFL. And seeing how the giants could not get a handle on it the second time around I'm beginning to think it could take hold.

LOL its not as far fetched as it may seem. Lets say by the end of the year Cousins increases his value to a 2nd round pick............ Harvin is coming of a year where he was placed on IR and in the final year of his contract. His value may never be any lower. I dont think this would work either , but its not that far fetched. The Vikings defiantly need a WR a Cousins + (Moss, Morgan, Robinson) + 4 or 5th round pick for Webb and Harvin, MIGHT work. I agree I don`t think it would happen but its not THAT far fetched....... is it? lol
Realistically Harvin`s value is probably a 2nd and 4th at best right now.

In principle I agree. But if Cousins is good, we will only have him through his rookie contract. If there was a way he could be our long term QB2, that would be great. I think we will have to trade him before 2014 to get the most value. I just want to be sure someone content being behind Griffin can play first. Who knows, maybe Rex would be an adequate backup with the improved personnel?

If you are going to send him somewhere send him to an AFC team or a team that isn't on the schedule for a couple of years. NFC east is tough enough. The Eagles and the Cowboys might be looking for a QB soon.
Sean you were one hell of a safety and an even greater role model for young men like myself. You played my position with the same reckless abandone I play it with. More importantly, you WEREN'T perfect and you MADE mistakes, a lot like me, and you were growing and maturing into a man, a lot like what I'm trying to do. And the fact that you're gone now only motivates me more, as a safety and as a young man, to carry on your legacy.

You know who looked great with Kirk Cousins?
Evan Royster. Maybe as backups they have chemistry more than other players do. But Royster had a great game, easily his best all year, and it may not be a coincidence. Cousins led him well on a drag route for a key first down, and he had a few other nice plays.
I am curious what posters would be willing to part with to give up Kirk at seasons end.
A mid round first is enticing to me but I am no expert and have no feel for the market. A 1st and 2nd?
I think that may be asking a bit much at this point in time, but a 2 and 3, or even 2 2's as Casserly said would be great. (Schaub went for 2 2's, with a grand total of 2 starts under his belt)
Thing is, I wouldn't want to trade him.. (as much as that pains me to say) at least not yet anyway.
I'll probably be blasted for this, but KC's pocket awareness/intelligence may even be better than Griffin's.
The reason I say that is KC is very decisive with his throws, and usually makes the right choice, avoiding the bit hit in the pocket.
RG3 sometimes seems hesitant to let the ball go, and as a result gets unloaded on in the pocket waiting till the last second to let the ball go. (not counting the option stuff)
This team can win with KC.. and it's hard to give something like that up for unknown picks.
The Schaub comparison is pretty accurate, KC looks like a more athletic Schaub and I think good things are in store for him.
Barry Cofield is LEGIT... no more nonsense about we need a "real" NT... HE IS THE REAL DEAL!!!! He goes to the Pro Bowl this year, book it!!!
Not sure if this belongs in this thread, but that too may be a silver lining. In recent weeks, I think Griffin has been trying to be a bit too careful and perfect, but he's a really smart QB. I bet getting that week off and seeing what Cousins did will teach Griffin some lessons. He gets that opportunity to study his teammates and team from a different vantage and that might just add to his game. Not saying that Kirk is better, but different and that seeing the equation differently might be beneficial.
You know all these trade talk? Well I am glad that Shanny is our coach this time around because when he was in Denver he took us IMO. Giving up Bailey and the picks for CP lets just say he took our lunch money... Here is to hopping he pulls a similar deal with Cousins.
hey Jets you guys need a QB, how about Darrelle Shavar Revis, plus a 2nd for Cousins....![]()
We needed to win to stay in first in the East and make the playoffs. We got that win because of our back up QB situation.
What's the value in that?
