Yea, I wasn't implying he would be the designated runner in a play, but more of the option runner who pitches out to Morris; I wouldn't even call it a run, but more of a bootleg pitch. But if he were more familiar with the 1st team offense, he would have a fairly good grasp of the majority of plays, outside of any running plays by himself...
the fact that he isn't RG3 style makes me wonder whether it is worth trying to get a similar skilled (though clearly less able) player to back him up. As for the idea that nobody these days will trade for a backup qb - people keep making dumb decisions, i don't see it stopping any time soon! I'd be happy with a 2nd for him. People don't like this year's QB class, and if you look at the success of the guys ahead of him....
He deserves a shot to be a starter instead of wasting the young years of his life being a back-up. Let him go and keep Rex as a backup.

I think he's going to get traded after the 2014 pre-season honestly, and I think we're going to get some decent value for him.
People forget that Kevin Kolb got traded for a 2nd and a starting CB and Matt Schaub (before we found out how good he really was) was traded for two 2nd rounders so easily. Teams will pay handsomley for a capable starting QB. He doesn't have to be an all-pro to get significant value.
****, just look at what we traded for Donavan McNabb.
Better question. Would you trade Alfred Morris for a 1st rounder if it were offered?
The soldiers gave three cheers as they urged their tired horses north across the uneven hills. Some of the mounts, exhausted after a week of almost continual marching, began to lag behind; others, spurred on by their enthusiastic riders, began to edge past the regiment's commander. "Boys, hold your horses," Custer cautioned; "there are plenty of them down there for us all."
This thread is bad luck. No talkie about the backup.
much better question. I think Mike was a RB factory in Denver, he'd build them up and trade them out. Hell, thats how we got Portis. 2 reasons I would have to think before making this deal though. a) we dont exactly have a stable of viable RB's that can replace M64 just yet and b) RG3 and M64 seem to be very tightly integrated. They have developed a really good rapport to make the option plays work and avoid botched handoffs. Its uncanny how they operate together. Not sure if that rapport can be easily replicated.
On a side note, why are we always so bipolar on our backup QBs? lol we either want them to take the starting job or trade them off lol

I don't think anything at this point. Preseason and that brief but relatively impressive outing against Atlanta in RGIII's absence. All the backups that got love came off the bench and had either multiple games. Or they pulled a what's his name. The kid from Green Bay who's now backing up Wilson in Seattle. Besides, from a business standpoint why would you give the Skinz a good deal? Mara screwed them over and they went big on RGIII. So we're handcuffed in the front office and back pocket. Just a literal view as I see it.
Through the heartache and pain. Here I remain, A Skinz fan for life....
So what do you want to trade him for again??? exactly.
If he continues to do what he did today, someone will offer a first rounder. QB's are valuable and his value just increased today.
And, or course we will eventually trade him. I doubt we could keep him at a back up salary, and obviously, he won't be starting.
